Doesn't seem like much of a reward. Why would I want to spend one of my precious lots on another ship?

Well basically it's meant to be an MP that you can furnish, etc. Hence why it takes up 1 lot. I plan on using my to make my workshop mobile & get off this rock. Just to bad other ships can't dock with it. Would be nice to be SW vendor in space.
