Thread: Suggestion: In-Flight Communication
As usual, I will preface this suggestion with the comment that I don’t know anything about programing, so I have no idea if this is feasable.
I think there needs to be a new in game means of communication between crew members of a ship in flight.
Right now we have various chat channels, and tells. We can also make macros to send pre-typed messages in a hurry. However, these messages can be easily missed in the heat of battle, and they are not very immersive. The only other means are third party programs which I believe are a technical violation of the end user agreement. (Though I could be wrong as they don’t actually interfere with SWG itself.)
There should be a means for crewmates to send clear messages to each other while flying and fighting. Such as "Bandits, 12:00" or "Level out your Flight" or "Break right/left" I have two possible suggestions.
One is to create an in-ship instant message channel that has the option to print the messages right across the screen. Players could then write macros to communicate instantly. However that is not much better than the existing system and I like my second suggestion better.
The other would be for the devs to program a series of commands right into the game which are then broadcasted as a voice command. (IE: I use the "/shipcom PullUp" command (which I put on my toolbar), and everyone in the ship hears a voice yelling "Pull up") Language and Gender options could also be installed.
I know this is not original, but does it sound useful?
