Just an idea
I will be leaving the game and doubtful i will hold my account. Though, i can say with certainty that if my items had real value outside the game i would continue to pay to keep my account open

Currently players are prohibited from selling items on E-bay or other online brokers

go to ebay... search for star wars galaxies... TADAAA!!! 401 replies. just because it is prohibited doesn't mean that people aren't doing it. i don't do it, and hate when people do it, but the option is out there to liquidate your assets and sell them for cash.

What you say is true, however, if it were sanctioned by swg then a whole new world opens up. Players who want to experiment with a month off here or there can do so confidently and the prices on items as they stand now would rise dramatically. Anyway, I would be more inclined to sell account time items etc, if it were sanctioned-otherwise im probably gonna have to flood the economy with multi mils 500mil+ cuz i feel guilty deleting it. Seems to me, there should be at least some thought regarding swg economy, though maybe its too late for that too-dunno

the economy can handle flooding. the money came from somewhere and if given to someone will go somewhere else. in fact, the worst thing for the economy is for someone to sit on fat wads of cash.
the thing with a sanctioned RL selling area would basically destroy the SWG economy. as it stands now, most people don't do ebay. most are afraid that they'll get scammed or that they'll get banned. If there were no such compunctions, many people would have millions, upon millions of credits, and that would ruin the economy.

i dont know how many people are on an average server, but i can tell u, as in Ultima Online when folks started to quit and give out theirmagnificent sums ofcash and valuable items (voluntarily or not)the economy tanked (my observation and opinion). Your right, the worst thing for the economy is someone who holds on to huge sums of cash-only because the reintroduction of that cash back into the economy, where players average about 600k -mil in pocket at any given time, would probably only serve to devalue not only the credits but the already devalued 'worth' of their ever-insured items. Anyway this will be my last post on it. Just food for thought.

If I ever have to make the choice between cashing in some credits for twenty bucks or picking up that nice rug that'd go so well in my home, I'm outta here. Also, if you give away your credits, sell them on Ebay or spend them yourself, they're still in the system. The only good solution is for you to just delete them when you go.
