It seems thatsome SWG fanboy(s) hasdecided 1 star my post. Not that this whole star rating system is really all that important but it's to bad theycould not haveat leastleft some kind ofrebuttal to my comments. In this day and ageI am finding it increasingly difficult to have an intelligent discussion with someone.

I'll tell you why.
Hundreds and hundreds of people woould by pass the missions and just solo grind xp to reach master, therefore not having any interaction with any other players and upon reaching Master they will cry at how crap JTLS was, that they got to Master in 3 days and there's no content.

i actually would have liked to see, a more player to player interaction for getting master pilot. rather than doing one mission, why could the devs not added in something, like.

YOU must help 20 Rebel Pilots achieve the quests in Tier 3???

this way, all master wanna bes, would be spamming dathomir / dantooine like hell trying to find these players doing the quests. This could be added into the journal we all have.

To win in PVP one must cheat, exploitz, hackz, and above all, have other pals that do the same. Once the foe is defeated, then go "OMGZZZ UZZZ SUCZ, LERN TO PLAY"

And so forth!

I see where you are coming from but the issue is more dynamic than that. The initial idea was that it would takelonger to get the piloting skills by choosing to go outside the "quest" and simply accumilate XP. As it stands now therearea significant amountofpower gamers that have already achievedmaster pilot status under the current "quest" only system and they are alreadycomplaining thatthere is no content for them to continue playing JTL even thoughJTL has been outfor a very short time. So if you really think about it,the power gamers will complain no matter what is done since theycan spend much more time playing than the average playeronline.

Since it is impossible to continually satisfy the power gamers without hurting all the rest of the players the devs/SOE really should have followed through and offered the option not to participate in the pilot quests but still be able togain skills through gaining XP just like any other profession. If someone wanted to get to master pilot status sooner they could participate in the quest or take the longer route of just accumulating XP. I really do not understand why the devs/SOE did not do this. Now not only do we have the power gamers complaining buta portion ofthe average players are upset as well.

That is a great idea! This would promote real players working together as a team (I am contantly hearing complaintsof pilots failing to find people who want to group with them) as well as possibly helping tocomplete some kind of newrequirementthat can be added for being a master pilot.

100% true, on both counts.

I think that the missions are fun and cool, but perhaps SOE could come halfway and always allow us destroy/inspect missions from our previous mission trainer? After you get past the first commander for Freelance in Corellia, you go onto another dude. Any time you come back to that first guy, he just keeps repeating that he wants to you talk to the new guy. Instead, they should allow him to give us regular destroy missions.

Cue the people that will now say "Jeez, everyone complains about grinding, but now you WANT to grind?"
Sure. It's fun, and you don't need crazy crazy buffs to do the simplest missions (worst idea ever).

Thank you for reading.

I remember back in the early days ofJTL, it was said (by the devs) that doing the missions (a.k.a. the quest) was optional as a way to further your pilot skills.I understood this as meaning that you couldgain the required XP for whatever skill you wanted and then simply visit a trainer to get the skill just like any other profession. In fact I also rememberit was said that if a person did the missions, they would advance faster than someone who chose not to.

My question therefore is an obvious one. What happened to the option of not taking part in the quest?

I never saw a post by the devs in beta that this option was eliminated.Although the missions are OK overall I can think of several times when I reallywouldhavepreferred if I could simply accumilate XP at my leisure and get trained when I qualify for a skill. This would also help out the players who are not power gamers and have problems with spending the hoursrequired to complete the more difficult missions.

It wasdisappointing to see that the option to not take part in the "quest" was removed. The devs need to reevaluate this.

maybe I'd actually want to do the missions more if they were... well, dynamic.

More so than: fly to this point and kill 3 fighters (which turns into 4 waves or so of them), disable this freighter, or kill this one "elite" fighter and a few of his stooges who all fly the same exact way, only he has more HP and slightly better weapons.

Now is that disable freighter was: "A reconaissance flight has detected an Imperial Convoy passing through this system. Alliance Intelligence reports that one of the frieghters is carrying an experimental missile system that could tip the balance of power in this sector. Inspect the freighters and disable it so that Transport Sigma can dock and capture it."

Then you go to space, An AI wingman or however many spawns depending on the mission type, and you fly out there amd do the job. If you don't get there in time, perhaps, the convoy goes to lightspeed and you follow them to another system, where maybe an enemy capital ship is waiting to recieve the cargo... and you have to get the ship before its too late.

Now, something like that would be fun. Especially if the next mission was to safe guard a smuggler transporting those missiles to a research facility.

/me shrugs.

Just a thought.
