When will the invulnerability/ targetting bug be addressed?
I did a /bug because I was unable to damage any ships at all. I am aware of the top/bottom invulnerability, and have attempted numerous times leading the target in many different manners. I have even gone so far as to have a groupedfriend disable a ship and then try all different angles, speeds, distances and about every weapon I could get my hands on to kill a ship. Nothing worked. This is not a performance issue on my end.
Yesterday I got a CSR response, and they said that they are aware of the bug and there will be a forthcoming fix in the near future. Although no specifics were mentioned.
Can we get some info regarding this as I believe there is a small yet vocal minority of players affected by this nasty problem.
On a side note....If this game was working, I would really enjoy it. The graphics, and fluidity of control are dead on. The content is a much needed addition. And this is coming from a person who had serious doubts. But until this bug is fixed...I spent 30 bucksto be able to travel with no wait times between the major cities. /sigh

Ihave this bug too..I got this Level 7 weapon dam: 1524-2842 and it can not even lower the shield of a tier 1 ship.It stays at 100%.
Even a disabled ship i fired on...Pointblank range and directly in front...not a scratch..just a few blinks from its shield every 5th shot and nothing more.
With this weapon it should have been destroyed in 2 shots or so.
DEVS please fix this invulnerability bug.

its just that the minimum effective range is too high, just like the maximum effective range is too low (compared to the xwing series, anyway)

I wish that were true, but that isn't the issue. I've sat 200m from a target, no damage registered. I've also been at 50m and been able to tear the targetapart. The problem is that, while the ship is disable and unable to travel, the server has it's location in a totally different area than the client shows. Thus, the client/server sync problem that many of us have. Those of you that have never fallen victim to this problem all assume the player is at fault (don't know what they're doing, and so on), or that it's something wrong with only their system. I envy all of you that have never seen this bug. I used to have a temp almost fix for my system. But last I tried it, it made no difference. My only guess is, the last hotfix was trying to fix things, and broke my only way of being able to halfway play.

I've never been able to inflict damage closer than 100 meters, when I disable a ship I usually have to fly out to about 250-300 before I can hit it again. This isn't just on enemy starfighters, I'm talking civilian freighters and the like, since I use them to test weapon effectiveness and the like.
I think there was one time at around 75meters where my shots somehow went though the shields and caused armor damage, but it was only for a shot or two on a low level ship.

Hi
this also happens to me, but it really gets my goat when it does it on missions im doing to level up, makes it all most impossible to complete the mission...
so yes i agree with most of what you say
NO CAPTAIN, I SEE NO SHIPS JUST HARDSHIPS
**I once ask a group if thay wanted a hand "as im a creature handler" thier reply was: no thanks we are in a hurry**

Yup a person in my guild is having this problem, she was shooting a stationary tier 1 ship from point blank range with a (I think) 900-1600 weapon and only 1 in 5 shots appeared to hit and even then minimal damage was being done.

Here's something that might make this a little easier to deal with:
I see this problem to some extent on every mission I fly. Things will be going great for a while, I'm taking out enemy ships like shooting fish in a barrel, but then at some point during the battle, they become "invincible" - I can't land a shot no matter what. And I'm not "missing" either - I'm lined up perfectly, reticle dead on on an easy enemy that I could normally take out in 2 seconds flat, but I'm just not able to land any hits. So to those of you who keep saying the bug doesn't exist, you are wrong - it most certainly does.
I've noticed a couple of things about this situation though:
1) I can tell when the game gets in this state because the enemies often appear to be moving.. strangely. Like their rotation doesn't match their movement or something. When I see this, I know I'm not going to be able to land a shot, so I don't waste the energy.
2) Within a few seconds of noticing this, there will be a "warp" (your engines briefly drop to 0 and enemies around you jump to new positions). This happens every single time. When the warp happens, I know it's time to starting blazing again and sure enough, I can land hits and the enemy is toast.
So I've learned to compensate for this bug by using the following technique:
1) I don't use the default fire/cycle setup - I keep my two primary blasters on seperate buttons so I can fire them individually.
2) When I first approach a target, I fire a few test shots using just one weapon. If the shots land, I know I'm in sync and open up with both weapons.
3) If the test shots aren't landing and the enemy appears to moving strangely, I know I'm in an out-of-sync state.
4) Wait for the inevitible warp - it happens every single time.
5) Blast away.
The trick to not allowing this bug to screw you is not wasting your blaster energy when you are in an out of sync state. Just fly around and avoid getting shot until the next warp.

This is a very serious problem and really should be addressed imediately.
I have suffered from this problem and its driving me crazy, the last patch has made things even worse.
To make matters worse the enemy always seem to be able to get hits on you regardless of range, strange that??
Perhaps the misison content needs to be sorted with less Kill missions and more missions that do not require you to fire at all.
I reference back to the classic "Xwing" series of games where there were recon, inspection missions as well to progress your career.
I estimate for myself 1 shot in 20 lands on target. Before the last patch i reckon it was half that 1;10 which was nearly manageable, certainly the enemy ships are less predictable so it makes it even harder to get a hit.
My current tactic is to do endless amounts of head on passes which at least gets some hits, where the target is manouvering less but TBH this is a mindless way of doing business.
I would never have bought this game if i had known this was gonna be so frustrating.

I AGREE
