I think space has been done very well. The feel is very good. The artwork, sound, etc, is excellent. I think my only concern is that there will be no content once you reach master pilot. So...
I feel that right now, there is too much of division between ground and space play. It's either one or the other. Here is what I'd ultimately like to see. A true combination of ground and space in one Theme Park. Here's an example:
(This example is from a rebel perspective.)
You'd start by breaking into an Imperial prison and rescuing a Rebel officer who was captured as a spy. Onceyou rescue him, he will tell you abouta Star Destroyer that is carrying vital data, but is having engine problems (he will tell you what space system to go to, where you will get a waypoint). Obviously you will need a decentsize squadron for this. When you get to the SD, it will launch a few waves of TIE's sent out to protect it. First you will have to take those out. Nextyou must bring down the SD's shields and take out at least it's bottom guns. This will allow your squadron to "land" in the docking bay. (This can be done simply by flying into the bay and having a menu that comes up prompting you to land.) Your group will then find itself INSIDE the SD. (You will then play very much like the corvette plays.) You will need to make your through troops to a spot where you willslice into a terminal and steal the data. Then make your way back to the landing bay. And launch back out. Once out, you will encounter incoming reinforcement that the SD called. The squadron must protect the person carrying the stolen data while they jump to hyperspace and escape. Then you must land and deliver the information to Ackbar in the rebel HQ. Mission accomplished!
This is just one example, but I think you can see the possibilities of combining ground and space. I think this ultimately is where SWG will truly shine. For any players who do not have JtL, or don't want to fly, they can still join in the ground portion of something like this. (Though not the part IN the Star Destroyer.) Perhaps something should require part of the group to do something on the ground at the same time others are doing something in space. Maybe a group has to be an Imp terminal WHILE the group in space is trying to slice the data out and they need a code from the ground folks sent to them. I think there are endless possibilities.
Hopefully the DEVs and programmers will not pass up the possibilities they have to truly make this game shine.
Thoughts?

I would love that, but a seamless merge of two totally separate game engines? Not likely. I hope I'm wrong.

Good idea.
Only thing that disturbs me a bit is the mentioning of the Corvette...
I am really disappointed how the Devs did the Corvette. No way to fight through. Only way you can do it is to sneak from incap to incap.
The Corvette-missions are no SW-feeling at all for me.... the critters in there are so hard that it is a pain in the ***. And going without armor and weapons in there only for the loot? Not for me.
So the mission you have in your mind sounds great. But it has to be good designed to give a lot of fun for everybody.
Thats all that counts.

I would love to see missions where there are 3 groups working against each other. A Rebel group, an Imperial group, and a Freelance group.
All three groups have objectives they need to accomplish and at the same time, they try to mess the other groups progress up.

Excellent idea on many levels. Talk about bringing back the StarWarsiness back to SWG...thiscould bevery similar tothe climax for RotJ. You could have a ground crew trying to accomplish one mission that directly affects the space based mission. Ifthat is too difficult for technical reasons, then they could make it linear (not nearly as cool, but much more technically feasible). The problem with all this would be that there would be no way to make these missions instanced for groups. This isfine with me as long as the locations are randomly spawned so players cannot camp the sites. This would allow all the playersto interact with the missions. There would have to be an access limitation somewhere so that only the mission takers could complete the mission. Someexamples of this are:
1) Only the mission group can land on the SD.
2) Only the mission group members get a hyperspace waypoint that takes them near the mission location.
3) Mission targets are not attackable by anyone outside of the mission group (current JtL uses this).
Let's keep constructive posts like this one going!

Exactly Fleyyre. We currently already have many of these things in the game. For instance, if is group A's mission, then the waves of TIEs that would spawn would be only for them to attack. Campers would do nothing. And as I see it, there is no reason that "landing" in the Star Destroyer cannot be instanced. The programming is already there. All the ships in the group would simply need to fly into the SD's landing bay. The programming is then exactly the same as the Corvette. The person who took the mission initiates the landing and everyone is spawned into an instanced Star Destroyer. Going back to the "landing bay" and using a starship terminal and launching(just like the escape pods on the 'vette) simply puts them back in their ship.
All of it is very do-able.
Please, 5-star this thread. I'd like to get at least one DEV to ackknowledge it.

I would love to see something like this. It would probably take a few load times, between the two game engines, but why not! It would definetly bring both worlds together.

I had an idea of combining ground and space also, its not much, but this is what i had in mind for something else to add.
People with JTL, when taking a corvett mission, actually fly up in space and go to their corvett........ once mission is done they proceed to escape pod and that takes them home OR they can fly home i guess..... but my main idea was let us fly to the corvett and /dock to it.

I just want to to be able to fly through the atmosphere of a planet and perform bombing runs on Imperial units with my Y-wing and do a little dogfighting with gravity resrictions!
