OK, I'm new to the game, haven't even got to 3rd level on my pilot's training yet. But I have a question: I was on a mission, fighting a couple of ties and a Tie advance. I took out one of the ties and the advance pretty easy, and while facing the last tie, I got fire from another direction. So I cycled my enemy targets, and guess what? There's a YT-1300 eating me alive! There was a Rodian flying it, and he was an NPC, flying for the Empire. Whaaa? I wasn't declaired, I wasn't in PVP. So whats the deal?

You don't have to be declared for an NPC to shoot you in space either. If you are of opposite faction they will come after you.

Also, as said by last poster, if you had a shot go wide of your target and hit this guy without knowing he would retaliate for certain.
