Thread: Question for the DEVS
hey guys, please take a moment andthink about this one. bio engineers will appreciate it.
whydid you guys make bio engineering so difficult. weneed to get samples from specificanimals, imbreed them, mix them in combos that are pretty much trial and error, and i will figure out the meaning of life long before i figure out how tofill an order for someone who wants a pet with a specific level, resist, ham, ect.
im looking at all these threads and they are almost all people asking for help on how to makepets under the new system. i look in the artisan, architect, combat medic and all theother professions that make stuff, and i dont see that. they dont need the wooly hide from a specific animal because that animal's hide is stronger. it dont matter if you kill something the size of a rabbit or something the size of a giant dune kimogila,if they both have leathery hide and are on the same planet, they are the same. why is it that i can sample arancor 10 times and have some good samples and some crappy ones? why is it that when i take 5 mutant rancors and make a pet out of it, a corellian butterfly has better resists than what i made?
to answer that thread of why bio engineers are dropping like flies, its first because you cant get any resources now (have you tried to harvest thewheat, berries and other stuff we use, its all crap right now). sinceeveryone got the holos for xmas, no one keeps a profession anymore. i cant find large quantities of the meats i need anywhere, and im not strong enough to get it myself (if most of the time, when i dna sample creatures, they dont even notice, why cant i take its meat or bone when im done?).
why is it that milk is one of the most abundant resources, and you cant get it anywhere. thats not just cheating bio engineers, its cheating creature handlers who cant get the enhancements. hell, even paris hilton was able to get milk from an animal. how about fish? anyone see castaway? why is it that if i want fish i have to go fishing? it takes about 2 minutes per unit of fish i get! (an hour and a half to get 45 units) how about a harvester that will catch fish? there are more efficient ways to gather fish than to sit with a stick, rope and fish guts.
devs, please reconsider the difficulty in making these pets, as well as the difficulty in getting the resources. make a bio engineer yourself and try to make some of the things we make. you will see how difficult it is. thanks for your time.

Because it's 99% impossible to have a simple system which is complex enough to give someone almost total control over everything within the clone. The only system which could do that and be simple would be something where you manually input the stats for the clone however you'd still need to learn what effects the CL rating so it'd still be a learning process. Secondly it's actually fun to have a system you need to learn and grow experienced at, many crafting professions are simply not fun. They churn out one item after another with next to no knowledge needed of how to make something special, bio-engineering as it is now is a really enjoyable profession because of the clones and I'd not want it any other way. If you can't figure out what to do then you need to speak more time learning about what does what, if you don't want to need to think about what your doing I'd suggest you take up another profession rather than dragging us into the usual grind associated with crafting.

Thats because their system doesn't require as much control over the stats as we do, also their crafting systems haven't changed since Beta3 well over 9 months ago, we've had this system for around a month and it's still being tweaked. As i said above, if you don't like thinking about what you need to do to make something then play another profession or simply don't make clones. The fact is though that once you have mastered a crafting profession there is very little else to enjoy since you can make everything and it's simply a case of getting the resources and slapping them together. Cloning not only requires knowledge of the process but also knowledge of animals as well as how to hunt for them, It's called FUN.

Now thats either an outright lie or your playing about game. A mutant rancor and a cori butterlfy dna will never produce anything alike even if you blended them. Once again, you need to take time to learn the system. If thats too much hassle you always have petstims and tissues to make and require the minimum of thought to produce.
i cant find large quantities of the meats i need anywhere, and im not strong enough to get it myself (if most of the time, when i dna sample creatures, they dont even notice, why cant i take its meat or bone when im done?).
So get someone to gather it for you, it's called interdependance. Get used cause you'll be seeing more of it in the future... alot more.

Again if you bothered to take time to learn about the professions and what is happening with it you'd know this was being corrected this month in the case of Milk, as for fish we haven't heard anything about if that is going to be made more available. I do recall a comment that seafood was a generic resource which covers fish, mollusk and crustacean meat and was going to be addressed as well but I don't remember them saying when.
Basically as I read your post it looks like your expecting things to be handed to you on a silver platter with the minimum of effort on your behalf. Tough. If you want things handed to you without any hassle then go play another game cause nothing in SWG is possible without effort and learning. I'm surprized you made it through the initial tutorial with the kind of 'too much effort needed' attitude your showing.
dude, i dont expect everything to be handed to me, but why is it that i have to spend an entire day sampling 1 specific animal after another, then spend another day making pets just to sample them and make the same thing, over and over just to get a low level pet. trying to figure out what to sample and mix together in a specific pattern is insane. if all professions were like this, no one would play. an artisan can place a harvester, come back to it in an hour, put the resource in the crafting tool and have a bike, and i need a Ph.D to figure out how to fill an order when someone wants their pet to be a specific level, and no higher. if your bored with the profession, switch professions, dont make the profession like this. you say its 99% impossible for a simple system that i have total control of. well, we may have total control, but no one knows how to figure it out. its pretty much trial and error till you find something that works good, then just keep doing it over and over. you arent understanding it and you cant really modify it. and is it too much to ask for the devs to put a guide out if they want to make it this hard?
as for any updates the devs are making, i cant find any mention on bio engineers. i just read about the atats, droid engineers, and the life day gifts. the only tweaking they have done is to take away the ability to make the "invalid pets" but they gave us no info on what to expect when making these so how are we suppose to know they are invalid. then they just make them uncallable, so the bio engineers get slammed with refund requests. then a couple days later they are allowed again and i had refunded pets that people already deleted, so they said.
when i made the comment about the mutant rancor samples making a pet with lower resists than a butterfly, i was exxagerating a little. it usually does get low resists though. i get them about 30%. by sampling pickets, i can get 24% resists without dying nearly as much. i fail to see the logic in that.
as for the animal resource thing, the economy is shot since everyone has holos, and you cant find a stable source for animal resources anywhere. if the animal dies, i see no reason why we cant harvest it. if it doesnt even notice the dna sampling half the time, its obviously not doing anything big to the animal.
ive taken alot of time in trying to figure out bio pets, but like i said, when you can get the same results if you use a mutant rancor or a picket, i fail to see a connection. i understand if the devs want to put varing degrees of difficulty in it, make it an option. dont make it so all of pet making is like that. you may have nothing better to do than play this game and trash on people on the forums, but i have to support myself and work. i cant play 24/7. ive sent comments to the devs repeatedly commenting on this, but they remove the forum that you comment in, they send auto answers for cs tickets, or they answer me talking about the wrong profession, what am i suppose to do? read the forums and you will see that im not the only one commenting about these things. you play the game and talk to other bio engineers and you will see that there are even more of us who just dont post on the forum cause you got a better chance of throwing a paper airplane with your comments on it and having it seen because of people like you who will get on a forum and just trash on the person who posted it cause you dont agree, and others will do the same to you, and the thread will just get locked. if you dont like it, say you disagree and move on.
What have they said they want to do with Player Cities?

Question about priorities here. The GCW, battlefields,Player Cities, Normal PVP, Missions, Class systems (ie smuggler, ranger, cm, bh, squadleader) that do not function as intended, Empty planet issue, Combat revamp; all of these have been put on hold to make jedi a more effective, easier class.
How is the jedi system a priority when all of these things are broken?
Many of us have been part of the game for a while, hell I was in beta, and have paid just as much, and played just as much as any jedi player. Why does it seem to be that such a small subsection that doesnt really affect the normal player base get primary attention.
No one was upset about the following revamps: CH, Chef, Droid Engineer, Vehicles, Player City implementation. Why, because it affected us all that these classes/ systems worked. I dont see a large majority of the player base caring that a small subsect gets a revamp that will not affect us. Combat balance should have come first, followed by civil war and class revamps. Lastly jedi should have been looked at. Last class implemented should not be first to gain support.
Thats their priority IMO.
