Thread: The Kettemore Space Dueling League
The Kettemore Space Dueling League would exist primarily to fix one of the largest flaws of JTL - the fact there is no reason to engage in Player vs. Player combat in space. Thus, the idea behind the KSDL is simple - give people a reason to fight each other in space. This will be done in 2 ways - first, by providing a ranking system for pilots, and second, by offering rewards for victory in space.
Joining the KSDL would be free, and the membership would be open to any pilots - Imperial, Rebel, or Neutral - of any skill level, who wish to participate. The rules would be as follows:
1) There is a simple ranking system in the KSDL, maintained by the administrators. It is based on the number of wins and loses you have against other memberes of the KSDL. It will be publically available at the KSDL website.
2) When two people or teams in the KSDL wish to fight, they must agree on both the terms and the wager of the duel and those to the KSDL administrators.
3) Terms are optional, and can be anything from a llimitation of the strength of weapon used, to fighting in a specific location, to fighting without droid programs. What is important is that these terms be agreed to by both parties before an engagement can occur. Since these rules are not entirely enforceable, we must rely on the honor system - and anyone found to have broken any of the terms of their engagement at any time will be immediately removed from the KSDL. Once all duelists agree on the terms, they are sent to the judge, along with an approximate schedule of available playtimes in the following 2 weeks so a time where all duelists and the judge are all available can be established.
4) Wagers are also optional, and can be whatever the duelists wish it to be - credits or items, but not FP - as long as both duelists agree on the duel. The item or credits from both parties will be transfered to the referee before the duel, so as to ensure the winner receives their prize.
5) Duels will be monitored by a neutral judge in a yacht, thus ensuring they can observe the fight without being attacked by either party or anyone else. The judge has final say in all aspects of the duel and determines when the duel begins. Default duels take space in Deep Space (to avoid decay) between two people, and allow for the use of all weapons, components, abilities, and droid programs. The ships begin approximately 2000m apart. All of these aspects are of course modifiable based on the terms agreed upon by the duelists. In the case that one or both duelists are not Ace-level pilots, the duel will be held in an area approriate for the level of pilots participating as determined only by the judge. Winning conditions are, by default, best 2 out of 3.
Keep in mind these rules are still up in the air, but they give you an idea what I would like to create, with the help of the pilots of Kettemore. I am open to any suggestions you may have for me. These are also just a basic starting point from which we could possibly form other events - monthly or weekly tournaments, scheduled open engagements in Deep Space, etc. I just need to know I will have some support before I begin to establish the KSDL.
If you would be interested in joining the KSDL please respond to this message, do not email or send me a private message.
Thanks!

I'll join, the devs should build something into the game that makes this kind of thing easier... Will this be on Ahazi? (I'm not sure if Kettemore is the name of a server...)

If your going to be running it on a website you could easily just add a space for server and players from all servers could join, not just kettemore. Would be a great way to feel out how many pvp JTL players on each server. Wish there was some way JTL players from all servers could meet in one place. So few of us and all...
True, but it'd also involve finding judges for that server, updating player stats for several servers, etc. I'd rather keep it to one for now.
I'm hoping people who don't often play on Kettemore might migrate over if only to enjoy play in the KSDL - but perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I'll join up and im on kettemoor, imperial
I'm glad you're interrested, but so far there are only two interested people in Kettemore who aren't members of my guild. Do you know anyone else who'd want to join? Maybe there are people who don't read the boards but might want in. I'd like to get four orfive outside people other than myself and my guild before I actually put effort towards starting this up.
Please let me know if you can convince anyone
Thanks!
Well, there was enough interest that I've created a webpage for the KSDL. You can find it here:
http://www.u.arizona.edu/~kallelis/ksdl.htm
It isvery basic at this point (thrown together in about 2 hours using Frontpage
) but it should be a good reference for anyone interested. If you are interested, please sign up using the instructions at the website ASAP so we can get some initial duels going.
Thanks everyone for their interest so far!
