Thread: Petition for the space stations

This is transplanted from my new dungeon idea thing and really should have been here.
(a sweet idea) I have seen out near the tatooinian planet there is a black sun orbital station surronded by guard/patrol ships what if that PoI along with Jabba's star and a few others are turned into dungeon/exploration areas. The Black Sun station would function much like DWB but IN SPACE!!! heh heh . This would be completely different however in the respect that you can loot new items, materials and such. I'll have to wait till the CURB comes out so I can think up some ideas but the station could be a pretty fun place. Another thought is that jabba star station. It almost begs to be turned into another themepark where the neutrals can continue their work for jabba with smugglers "give some special treatment to em" being able to actually smuggle cargo for jabba and uploading it to a destination having to outrun imperial patrols and dodging scans. Like many JTLS fans one thing that would be truely cool is if space station were actually that space stations where you could dock inside and actually walk around like in the begging when your ship gets blown up by the imps if you used the tutorial mode.
Just basically want space stations to be just that space stations you can land in and walk around a bit.

I predict we will get this one day...lots of stuff on the bunner atm...but one day.

Great isea. But the next logical step would be for Players to own space stations, like player owned cities. Styles to choose from, aliances, affiliations. Think about it.

It's very possible and I see how it wouldnt work. It'd be like a multi-person ship but anyone can go in.
First I'd like those planet space stations to become available first.
You get near the station or comm it and ask to enter the Station.
You load in.
The station would feature a cantina, bazaar, bank terminals, basically like a small city hovering over the planet. There's windows so you can see outside like you would in a MP ship.
Put in some Imperial, Rebel, and Neutral NPCs that give new missions- either space or ground, or it'd be awesome if it involved both.
Definitely hope they become like as said soon.

yup thats what i'm hoping for is for the space stations on planets to be like mini cities where there is a bazaar cantina area, and maybe a gambling area. As for player owned space stations that would be an interesting idea however it would be hard to do and would have to be placed by devs I bet. It would be like the ground area except majorly cluttered up unless we limited it to a certain number per sector.

People! This has come up more than 100 times! It is nothing new so stop saying Wow i can't believe I thought of this!!! You look at thread history and then tell me how dumb you really are!

Seems to me that if more than one person comes up with a great idea independantly, that's not so "Dumb". Perhaps, since more than one person did just that, it's an idea that is worth listening to. More than 100 you say? Sounds like an idea that might keep people in the game, increase people in the game, and keep people from going elsewhere. Just because an idea is often repeated doesn't mean that it's dumb, infact, I'd have to say just the oposite. The only hard part of the idea is placement. A building in space is much like a building on the ground, since in Star Wars they already have artificial gravity. Placement shouldn't be such a problem, orbit isn't necessary, it could be just about anywhere around the planet. Simply require that anyone perchasing a Station be declaired on one of the three faction types, and give them an assigned orbit. Let them plce a waypoint to their station in their datapad and go there. Once at their station, they need to target it, as any other station, only in addition to the usual options they get the option to dock and debark. Any player of the same faction type ( Imperial, rebel, or neutral) can both dock with and enter the station. As fsar as the other goodies that this could start is an increase in PVP. If the owner of the station is covert, it cannot be attacked. If they are overt, it can by the enemy. Anyone of the same allignment can join in the defence of the staion, those opposed may not, however, help the attack unless they are "Grouped" with the origianl attackers. So if you want to be sure that you take out your objective, bring enough help. If you are overt and don't want to loose your station, have enough help defending it. Assign patrols of your area, lookouts etc. How real is that for a little bit of programming?
Most of what I just said takes NO programming. The rest is simple to do (except for the placement and launching. Make the station really one big ship, launched like any other, and most of the problem is solved. Once a player alunches their station, they just leave it in space. To get it there in the forst place, they can either launch it from the space terminal, or take it with them in Deed form. Once it's up there, simple to get back down. Really NOT stupid or dumb.

Theres many ways to implement it but I think it would increase space usage 10 fold by implementing such a system.. kind of like bases in space. Maybeallow other factional pilots to organize raids and conquer sections of space for their faction just like the ground game. It would dramatically increase content for space as there isn't much to do after you reach ace pilot.

sounds like someone is angry that maybe their idea was copyed /eyebrow. Look I know this idea isn't knew, it has probably been around since the days that JTLS was first put into swg. All i'm doing is bringing up the issue again hoping to get some responses.
