i notice rebels and Imperials get a starter flight helmet but why do we have to wait till master ace pilot to get one why dont we get a starter helmet like the rest of the JTL pilots get.
and also wouldent our heads explode if we didnt wear a helmet in space or the planets atophere would blind us without a viser.

I dunno why you don't, but I don't think anyones head exploded or became blind because of not having a helmet in space.....at least in the movies and the comics/books ive read....

Only Imperials get a helmet at the start. And in return they get the toughest missions in the game.

to my knowledge, rebels do not get a starter helmet either. it is only imperials that get one. rebels get their helmet at ace just like freelance.

freelancers get the bandolier, which is the only one that can actually be used for something other than looking cool

Yup, as has been said.
That said, it'd be nice if each faction got their own helmet and flight suit. For that matter, they could structure set rewards as they go.
Rookie: Basic flight suit and basic helmet to start
T1: Life support pack / thing to wear
T2: Better suit (Rebels with Y-wing/"heavy" suit, etc)
T3: more of the same (Alt helmet scheme)
T4: Another outfit (Rebs with A-wing outfit)
Master: Ace Jacket, ace helmet (customized design for Rebs, rank badge or something for Imps, etc), etc.

I'd just like a reward I can either wear in battle and look cool (and not take up a valuable armour slot) or something that actually has a use (like the bandolier).
