Hi,
As I live in the UK, I am thinking of just ordering a CD-Key so that I can play (slightly) sooner than Friday.
My question is: What is the JTL manual like, and how useful is it? What information does it actually contain, e.g. Does it have ship stats and parts info. Also, is there an online version, like there is of the current SWG manual?
I'd like to know this, becuase if the manual contains some nice.interesting reading and information, then I'd rather just get JTL on Friday, box and all, but if not, then I would probabbly just order a CD-Key.
Thanks in advance,

I flipped through the manual, but it doesn't really have much important stuff. My wife, whohas never played much in the way of flight games before, jumped right into JTL without reading the manual and is doing pretty well. So, I'd say you should be able to manage without it.

Thanks for the fast response, I was primarily asking not because I've never flown before (either in a game/space or RL) but because of the really nice ship customization that JTL offers.
What I'd like to know is with components, do I just buy a component made by the same company as my ship, and so long as it is the same level or lower than my ship it will fit?
As in, if I have a TIE Bomber chassis, can I buy any Seiner(sp) TIE engine that has the same level as my TIE and lower, rather than needing to look for a special TIE engine deisgned soley for the bomber.
Hope this makes sense,
Thanks again

Manual is weak. I'm not sure when it became standard for these games to charge $20 for the REAL manual (prima guide), but I hate it.

Any component that you are certified for will fit, as long as the ship has mass to fit it.
Mass is key to ship components. All components have mass, and a chassis can accept so much mass.
For instance, my current TIE/ln has a mass of around 40K. I could then put 4 components of 10k mass in, or 8 of 5K, or so on, as long as I don't get over 40K mass.
The company that makes the component is not relevant, but just a flavour thing. My TIE has Koensayr armor, Cygnus guns, Mandalmotors shields, an Incom reactor, anda Mon Cal booster.

Is the JtL manual downloadable? Bought RotW Digital Download and it didn't come with a manual pdf.

PDF manuals in several languages were included as part of publish 17. You should be able to find them in the StarWarsGalaxies game folder, but don't expect to be impressed...

Many questions can be answered by reading the Pilot FAQ in the Pilot Forum, or the FAQ at the top of this very board. Many people seem to have no problem asking any question that comes to mind by making a new thread and, in general, they aren't beaten too badly by the board regulars when they do.

Avoid JSF bound to Imp faction, prestige to fs, reduction of pvp damage and comments how space combat is to slow while your still at tier 1 however.
