Thread: Hmmm...
I just typed a long post about my "how to unlock a FS" theory that I haven't seen anyone post yet. I'm sure I overlooked a few things, and it was probably bogus, but I was curious to see what everyone thought. So I typed it up, checked it over and finally, after much deliberation hit the submit post button. But, um, where'd it go? It never appeared anywhere on the forums. Did I strike the nail on the head?
Probably not, I probably deleted it somehow....
'cause we'reall gluttonsfor punishment!!!!
Seriously though, I believe most of us retain SL bc it is a class with alot of possibility, if only we could get a little TLC from the devs... supposedly there starting to turn their eyes this way (its rumored that Q-3P0 is playing a SL on TC) but we'll see what we'll see... Alot of us will keep on with SL until the devs finally make something out of it, and then we can say with pride 'I'm a Squad Leader' and not be laughed at in return.
Drop it like a bad habbit.
If anyone in this forum tells you it is worth keeping they are lying.
If at somepoint in a few months it is fixed in some major publish it is easy exp to grind on now so just come back.

Actually, Q-3PO told me that he's playing a SL on a LIVE server, not TC.
(no, he didn'ttell mewhich one)
Personally, I stick with Squad Leader because I see the potential in this profession. My personal "goal" in SWG is feel like I've played a Hero in the realm of Star Wars. I love having the opportunity to make an appreciable effect in the Galaxy. But most important to me is having the opportunity to interact with REAL people here. That's why I'm a Squad Leader, not because it's "uber" or even very powerful, but because I'm playing to have the opportunity to interact with people. If I wanted to play "solo", I will play a different game, thank you. The opportunity that Squad Leader gives me to help lead a group of friends/strangers into combat is justa whole lotta fun!! It's a terrible pity that our profession is so horribly underpowered to the point of brokenness, but there's so much potential that I stick with it.
The saddest part, is that there are currently better professions for the style of gameplay I'm talking about. Doctor, Combat Medic, Bounty Hunter, Commando, Smuggler....er...hm...well, basically EVERY profession is better than Squad Leader currently, so as the Squad Leader Correspondent, I'm really sticking with the profession because I feel a duty to do my part to help correct this serious tragedy that is the current state of the Squad Leader profession.
Should you become a Squad Leader? At this point, and as much as I love the profession, I really can't recommend it right now. Will this change in the future? I'm doing my best to ensure that. Does that mean you can't have fun with it even in the current abysmal state? Absolutely not! Myself and many other people have a GREAT time playing Squad Leader, and you can too as long as you understand what you're getting: A profession that currently gives back less than you put into it, but with the right attitude, you can and WILL have a great time.
Whatever path you choose, don't be afraid to change it in the future because there's plenty of opportunities in this game. If you choose to be a Squad Leader...Welcome, Soldier, I /salute you! If not, perhaps reconsider the profession after we've been given the improvements we desperately need and deserve.

Good advice to all who wonder about this profession.

You should get as many SL skills as you can now because fixes are coming....eventually....and when they do they will inevitably decrease the insane amount of SL xp you get now. So stock up and wait it out!
I was running through Fort Tusken the other day, ran into another group that arrived soon after mine did. We linked up and the other leader was gracious enough to let me take over our combined group. At this point we had about 9 players in our group, not including about 5 or 6 pets ppl had brought along.. The group contained a master commando, a BH, some rifleman and some other odds and ends.. Anyways, we started smashing our way through the caves, and I about Shat myself when I saw the SL exp I got after the first kill.... 16,000... Sixteen thousand Squad Leader experience on just one kill. Granted it was a Tusken warlord, but with the size of our group we weren't running into anything less than that... Berserkers, Death Lords, Warlords, and Avengers were the norm.. I had just lvl'ed up earlier and trained, so I had next to nothing in SL exp starting out, I think I came out of that fight, ten minutes later, with about 350k in SL exp.. After less than a quarter of an hour of fighting... So, yeah, stock up on that SL exp before they nerf it... back to the way it should be..
