We all know the A-wing is in JtL and we've seen a b-wing in a screenshot. The a-wing was invented after the battle of hoth and the b-wing was invented right before the destruction of the second death star. Should these ships be in the game? I can see why the devs decided to put them in, but in my opinion they shouldn't be there.

remember the second level on Rouge Squadrion 2? that was when the rebels were fleeing Yavin IV, you get an a-wing to counter the TIE Intercepters, as for the b-wing it could bea prototype

The ship issue is the same as the Jedi issue. The devs have forgone continuity and replaced it with the "fun factor." I mean, let's face it. During this time in the OT, there were only X-Wings and Y-Wings. The other ships didn't come about till much later.

From what I remember, B-Wing was in prototype stagebefore Yavin. In fact, you are supposed to save the prototype of B-Wing in one of the missionof the original X-Wing game which ended with first Death Star. So it is not surprsing that B-Wing can be seeing in serviceafter Yavin. However A-Wing should not be in until after Hoth. But if Dev stick to starwars, we imps will have to fly sheidlless and hyperdriverless TIE. I have no problem with it but I think some players might not be able to survive in such simple starfighters.

The timeline is after destruction of the Death Star and before the battle of Hoth. It could be only a year before the battle of Hoth. In that case a wings would be running around in limited numbers.
Either way who cares. I'd rather have more ships flying around anyway.

The A-wings are out at the moment, however they are nowhere near as far-spread a X-wings nor Y-wings. It's past the prototype stage and actually being produced, the B-wing is in the prototype stage more or less. However, think about this. How many people are going to fly them relative to the # of X-wing flyboys?

how about this? can you see a starwars star fighter game WITHOUT the Awing or Bwing?
yeah time line conflicts and all... if these birds arent in youll have a load of very angry rebel players.
There are lots of conflicts just forget em and enjoy the show.

The A-wing was designed by Jan Dodonna, commander of the Yavin Base, before the battle of Yavin. It was designed to be simple and easy to build, and during the first few years of its production it was built primarily in private shops and garages, one at a time. It wasn't till around the fall of Coruscant two plus years after the battle of Endor, that Incom began to mass produce them.
Early A-wings, because of there widespread origins, were some of the most widely customized starfighters of the day.
Source: X-wing series, mainly Bacta War.
B-wings were designed by Admiral Ackbar and the Mon Cals as a gift to the rebellion for coming to there aid in liberating Mon Calamari from the empire at some point between Yavin and Endor and were first produced by the Mon Cals, who are expert shipbuilders. Not sure when they were first introduced into the rebel fleet, or were I read this information.

I think the B-wing was actually designed by the Verpine or some other asteroid dwelling race. At least that was the canon in the old West End Games RPG. Hence the rotating cockpit. It was a feature common to their ships, but one that required a great level of skill from human pilots to operate, due to the alien nature of it's design.
