If you buy a Ship Chasis, is that just the empty part of the ship, or does that come with the engine, hyperdrive, and weapons and sheilds?

When you buy the Blueprint from the Shipwright its just that the blueprint, then you turn that into the Hull (chasis) of ths ship. This is barebones ship, nothing in it. However ALL CRAFTED ships are hyperspace capable. The basics to fly a ship WITHOUT wanting to kill stuff is a reactor for energy and an engine to go.

If players are working for the Empire, Rebel Alliance, or Privateer, why do we have to pay other players for a ship chasis? I think we should be issued a ship chasis complete with stock weapons, engine, shields, etc. according to our skill levels. The only thing we should have to worry about is buying better components for our ships.

Yeah, I have the feeling too. If you're in the Rebel Alliance Navy or the Imperial Navy, your shiprepair cost, ship chassis/components, everything, should be provided by the Navy when you're doing missions for them. You're onlyrequired to use your own ships when you're doing stuff for yourself. Just think about it, if you're a US Navy pilot, do you have togo shopping around for your own F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet after graduating from Navy combat flight school? For combat missions, I fly the jets provided by the Navy; if I'm going to grocery shopping, I'll take my own private jet.

I just had an idea.
Remember X-Wing or TIE Fighter?
Missions had (IIRC) primary, secondary and bonus objectives. TIE Fighter added secret objectives as well.
Mission success was dependant upon which objectives were met. I can't remember offhand if you had to have all primary objectives--period--or if enough secondary objectives completed could offset a failed primary (note- I may be confusing this with the Wing Commander series, where some objectives could be failed if enough others were succeeded). You got extra stuff--rank, tattoos, medals, etc--for successfully completing bonus and secret objectives.
*clears throat*
How feasible do you suppose this sort of thing would be in JtL? In this manner, the "just enough to get by" pilots can still make Master. However, the "all in" pilots not only make master, but get all kinds of nifty rewards for taking risks and going beyond the call of duty. Such rewards could indeed include ship chassis.
*eyes post*
Yeah, it's something of a wild shot, but it seems interesting, and perhaps even doable.
