Alright, I've been thinking about a JtL combat-based event for my guild to promote for some time; I think I've smoothed the plans out, and want to know what the rest of the player base thinks about it.

SCENARIO:

The Rebel Alliance is smuggling several experimental weapons on the Starlight Ambassador, luxury cruiser booked on a two-hour pleasure cruise. Rebellion agents have purchased tickets onthe vessel, departing from Naboo, and stashed the experimental blasters in the ship's hold.

The cruise begins with liftoff from Theed, cruising the system. As it reaches the halfway point of its cruise in Naboo, the ship is attacked by pirates, hoping to retrieve the experimental weaponry for themselves. The luxury cruiser is forced to make a blind jump into hyperspace...

The ship emerges in Deep Space, hyperdrive damaged from the battle with the pirates. The engines shortly come offline, and the Rebel Agents aboard the cruise liner send a distress call...

Rebel starships pick up the distress call, rushing to Deep Space as fast as they can. However, the Imperials and Pirates, hoping to get the experimental weapons themselves, trace the distress call and head to Deep Space.

The three factions arrive near the location of the drifting starship, and all begin to close in on it. The Imperialsdeploy an advanced shield around it, and the Pirates prepare grappling hooks and tractor beams to capture thecruise liner. The weaponry procured by the victors of this battle may unite the galaxy, divide it, or destroy it...

OBJECTIVES:

All three factions (Privateer, Imperial and Rebel) will have eleven ships; ten fighters of their choosing and one command ship (YKL-37r, VT-49 or YT-1300). As long as the command ship is within ten kilometersof the Starlight Ambassador, destroyed fighters will be allowed to make repairs and return to the battle in Deep Space. However, if the command ship is destroyed, no fighters outside the system will be allowed to return to the battle.

REBEL OBJECTIVES:

PRIMARY TERMS:

The Rebel Alliance will have to protect the cruiser at all costs for forty minutes, the estimated time until the cruiser can jump to lightspeed and unload the weaponry for Rebel agents to pick up.

SECONDARY TERMS:

All enemyships are destroyed.

PIRATE OBJECTIVES:

PRIMARY TERMS:

Destroy the Imperial command ship, halting Imperial reinforcements and destroying the shield around the cruiser. After this, the Pirate command ship must approach within 50 meters of thecruiser and come to a standstill for five minutes, the time it takes for the grappling hooks and tractor beams to efficiently bypass the cruise liner's anti-piracy systems. After this, the Pirate command ship simply needs to jump to hyperspace, with the cruiser in its wake.

SECONDARY TERMS:

Destroy all Rebel and Imperial ships before the forty minute timer runs out, and the cruiser can escape.

IMPERIAL OBJECTIVES:

PRIMARY TERMS:

Destroy the Rebel command ship, forcing down their efforts to rescue the cruiser. When this is done, the Imperials must keep any enemy starships from coming within 75m of the cruiser for ten minutes.

SECONDARY TERMS:

Crush all enemy opposition.

REWARDS:

In addition to advanced weaponry and equipment (rare loots, enhanced weapons, high-grade armor, etc...), the gratitude and/or response to oppression/robbery of the wealthier passengers on the starship will result in 500,000c being given to each pilot/crew member of the victorious squad.

So, what do y'all think? Any good? Any ideas or comments?

I think it's a great idea, howeverit think it should be somewhere other than deep space, so more players can take part.

The reason I put it in Deep Space is so that the Pirates (Privateers) would be able to fight the other two factions...Unless there's such a thing as an "Overt Privateer", in which case, sure, move it to Naboo or something.

Ahh, didn't think of that. Good idea.

You've obviously never been to the Starsider server. We do this kind of thing every week. Sounds like a good start, but, unfortunately, when you go into deep space as a privateer, you MUST choose which faction to go in as. So, you'd have Rebel privateers and Imperial privateers, no plain neutral privateers.

...Ouch. There go the privateers. Guess they can still join up the Rebel or Imperial squads, though...
