Thread: Problems with Level 10 & Level 9 Ship Blasters

Has anyone else seen this problem?

I looted a level 10 (and later a level 9) blaster that both exhibit this problem.

I can equip the weapon in the starport terminal GUI.
The left side list shows the (Loaded) indication
The ship graphic stats show that the ship's total mass has increased.
The ship graphic stats show that the ship's total energy requirement has increased.

The ship graphic itself does not show the gun graphic (i.e. no turret on my Nova, no nose gun when equiped on my KSE).

When I launched (just to see if this was a non-space graphic glitch) the weapon does not appear on my ship in space and does not fire anything when fired.

I don't have the specific name on me but the level 10 I believe was a Special Ops or Secret something blaster. Evidently it was so secret that it doesn't exist.

Anybody seen this?

Yes, the "Special Ops" or any weapon with a name that seems out-of-the-ordinary is supposed to be something "special" - the PROBLEM is that it seems they didn't bother to add weapon graphics to the things before launching JTL or in any of the successive patches.

So your only recourse is to RE it, making sure it's in the MIDDLE of the pack somewhere so it doesn't come out as the dominant "named" blaster and queer the RE.

Have you or anyone successfully re'd a component using one of these parts and ACTUALLY HAD IT WORK?

Yes, just make sure to tell the SW to put it in the middle of the tool to minimize the chances of it becoming the weapon that comes out on top.

Otherwise you hose the entire mix.

I've looted a lot of guns so far, and these are the ones that I know have the missing graphics problem...


Level 10 - (Unknown Manufacturer) "Rayslinger" Blaster
Level 10 - Sienar Design Systems Experimental "Secret Ops" Blaster

Level 9 - Sienar Fleet Systems "Elite Ops" Blaster
Level 9 - Rendili "Prototype X" Disruptor


One thing to note, is that besides the level 9Sienar Fleet Systems "Elite Ops" Blaster listed above, there is also another type of level 9 gun with a similar name called the Sienar Design Systems Elite Blasters. This gun does work, and shoots the standard TIE fighter style green blaster bolts. Also, if you want to RE a level 10 gun that shoots green blaster bolts, then you need to find a Sienar Fleet Systems L-s7.2 Laser Cannon. That's the only working level 10 gun that shoots green bolts.


If you have one of the broken guns, it will still work in an RE project, just make sure its not the first gun put into the tool, otherwise the final output will also be bugged. Also, with the new inventory sorting code, I believe your shipwright needs to keep the RE tool open while putting the items into it. If he just drags them ontoa closed tool, the internal order might get messed up and you won't have control over which gun is technically the "first" gun in the tool.

I've never seen an SFS L-s7.2, and I've seen a LOT of damn L10s.

I've looted roughly 40 level 10 guns, and at least two of them, possibly three, were Sienar Fleet Systems L-s7.2 Laser Cannons. There are a total of 11 different level 10 guns that I know of (This includes the two bugged ones). Some seem to be rarer drops than others. Armek Elite Ion Cannons and Gyrhil R-9X's seem to be on the rarer end of the scale, while both of the bugged guns seem to be much more common, unfortunately.


Here's a list of pretty much every gun from level 3 and up and what graphics it shoots. Most of this list was compiled by Tomo Rainer from Starsider, however I didcontribute a few of the listings myself...


Level 3:

Incom Disruptor: red disruptor
