Thread: Neutral pilot the best choice?

Well, I'm a rebel. I just got the jedi starfigher, which meant I had to quit the rebellion, losing all my rebel pilot skills, then join the empire and do the mission, the rejoin the rebellion. Now, before I regrind rebel pilot, the question is, would neutral be better? The reason I ask is, had I been neutral, there woul dhave been no regrinding of pilot for me now, as neutrals can use the jedi starfigher as well. If another expansion comes out, and this same type of situation comes up, it seems like if your a neutral pilot you'll save yourself alot of grinding by not losing your pilot skills when you change factions... right?

You bring up a good point, but would you be happy as a neutral pilot? in the sense of the ships, you have avaiable to you. Next time round, the quest might not be linked to your ground faction, but the faction you have in space...

But the faction you have in space for neutral pilots mirrors your ground faction. If you are a Reb, when you become a Freelance Master Pilot then you are an overt reb in space. Only if you have no ground faction affiliation at all will you not have it in space as a Freelance pilot, and even then you have to pick an affiliation to head to Kessel or Deep Space.

The big decision you have is what Freelance faction you want to fly for. RSF on Naboo, which is Imperially aligned and whose master mission is to target a rebel vette, Corsec, which is neutral and whose master mission can be either an Imp or Reb vette, or my choice, the Hutts, whose master mission is an Imp vette (you get it from the same admiral rebs do in fact).

As a reb the Hutts might be a better choice. Once you become master you will be locked in as a reb in space so that should not make any difference. At least, I have found none.

In fact, I can testify that as a Hutt pilot you can fly the Heavy X mission out of the Reb space station in Kash.

When I was briefly a ground Imp (combatant) getting my JSF, I don't remember being overt in space. But I didn't look hard at my status up there so I'm not sure.

But I DO know that if you're a neut ground/space pilot, you can enter Kessel with no allegiance. Deep Space is the only forced PvP area.

I would assume that any expansion the future holds will have similar quests as this one, but likely the favor of the better ships will shift to the Rebels. In the end, it takes virtually no time to re-grind (in comparison to other professions) so just go the direction you like for now, and don't worry to much about what might come out in the distant future (at least, thats what I'd do).

Neutral pilots are unalinged whatsoever, but differing neutral "factions" support differing sides of the GCW.

Neutral pilot Sub-Factions:

Corsec= THE most neutral faction (lets you choose wich corvette you do for Master)

RSF = Imperial supporters (IMP Vette for Master)

Smugglers Alliance = Rebel supporters (Rebel Vette for Master)

But once you are master this becomes irrelevant, since for going to deep space you still must alling yourself to whatever faction you choose... you´re not forced to use the one your "subfaction" supported in your missions.

Being neutral pilot has annother huge advantage. If you are Rebel on ground and in space and want to switch to imperial, you loose ALL, this is no joke, ALL your pilot skills for the faction you left as well, forcing you to do the entire pilot grind again. Neutral pilots dont loose their space stuff when switching factions!
