I'm currently flying a Y-wing and I absolutley hate them. Is the "Longprobe" version any better at manueverability?

it's pretty much the same in manueverablilty, it's a bomber and supposed to be sluggish. If you can't stand the slowness(neither can i) stick with you Z-95, and if things get rough, look for a fast engine in the 60+s. Oh, and have you been throttling down to make your shipmore manueverable?

Actually, if you throttle down now your manueverability is chopped in to pieces. But I guess I will have to keep trying this Y-wing out... Since they are basically the same in maneurverability, whats the differences?

The Y-WIngs turn like bricks even with good engines, IMO.
Manueverability is worst at zero throttle and full throttle in my experience. Throttling back a bit does help.
Even so, it will only help so much. Did I already mention the Y-Wing turns like a brick?

Hehe, I guess I may switch back to a Z-95 then. Now to work with such little mass compared to the 150k mass the Y-wing has will be hard

got another question,
I did the escort missions on Dant, and finally got the 4th ship to jump. I thought i could just go back to the space station, and avoid the Tier 3 fighters, and finish up this phase. I got past them but then a tier 4 force assasassin pops up out of nowhere in a ship thats 10 times faster and at least twice as storng in weapons and armor and takes me outbefore i even have a chance to turn and engage .
It made me fail the mission, even thought i finished it, then i had to go repair twice because dant station only repairs 3/4 damage. Making me have to go to corellia to get the last 1/4 repairs.
I fly back to dant and try to go to the space station to get the mission again, but as soon as i warp into dant space. another force assassin pops up behind me again and i have no friggin chance.
Has this happened to anyone else? and does this mean its gonna keep happening?

my ywing is alot faster than my z95
z95=390
ywing +460 or somthing

Using the exact same engine my crafted z95 is significantly faster and more maneuverable than my Y-wing. Nilpmet, I think you are comparing your starter z95.
Someone said that the longprobe Y-wings allow a second set of weapons that are not exclsuively for a gunner (i.e. a pilot can control them) and allows two missile launchers. Pretty sweet!
Right now I have my z95 outfitted for quickness and my Y-wing has the thoughest armor and shields I could find (which were too heavy for the z95). Torpedoes are nice to have.

Y-wing vs. Y-wing 'Longprobe'
The 1st tier Y-wing is a fighter/bomber which has the pilot in the controls of the main blaster/ion/disruptor and projectiles (i.e. missles/space bombs) while an optional gunner can control a top mounted 360 degree turret for an extra punch (especially handy for ships that stick to your tail like glue). It is sluggish at the point that you recieve it unless you have gotten some really really good looted 1-3lv components (mainly an engine and booster). It has the ability to carry 2 blaster style weapons and 1 launcher.
The 2nd tier Y-wing 'Longprobe' is a single person craft long distance recon fighter/bomber which has the pilot in control of every aspect of the ship including the additional gun. It is best when you have to fly alone, however with a gunner, you might fair better at that level with the basic Y-wing since you will soon be at a higher component level for more speed and pitch/yaw/roll etc. I can't remeber if the Longprobe has more mass or not since it was the begining of beta since I used one but I think I remeber it having a little more. It has the ability to carry 2 blaster style weapons and I am almost 100% sure it can carry two launchers.

can you equip 2 weapons in the y-wing or just one. i have a headhunter with decent gear and would only want to upgrade if i can equip two weapons instead of one

you can, but you need a group member to use it. wait until you get the long probe. then you got 2 sets of blasters under your control. duble damage. x wing has 3 sets

Has anyone else had trouble with loading missles onto their Y-Wing. I cant seem to, any help would be appreciated.

I've been able to find missles but not a missle launcher. Same goes for chaff/countermeasures.
Perhaps that's the issue?
