In your datapad rightclick the control device, bring up the radial and rename from there.

I've been searching the forum, and I found many posts about what names people chose for their ships. However, i couldn't find out how you actually name your ship. I just purchased my Y-Wing Long Probe, and it is still in deed form. I couldn't generate my ship until I made "Multi-Ship" level in my skills, which I accomplished last night.

Can I name my ship at anytime, or does it have to be when I first generate it? How do I name my ship? I couldn't find any options to do so.

You generate you ship first.When you are not piloting it, you can open your datapad and bring up the menu on your ship and choose the option to rename.
