My apologies if this has been asked already, but Other links seemed to be getting too long and unreadable:
With ships being upgradable, does this mean that it will be similar to the ground game in that "he who has the most money wins"?
Meaning if someone buys this game to play JTL will they be at a severe disadvantage to all the Mega Millionaires out there who can instantly upgrade their ships with uber leet components?

I think thats the whole point of a virtual economy. He or she with the most money will be the best. There is no point in trying to be the best if the first noob that logs in can beat the crap out of you. No offense intended.

That being said, you can still play JTL very well without being a megamillionaire. Just as well you can play the ground game easily without having lots of money. Just dont count on being the best.

Money is only part, If that megamillionare is only at novice level pilot he can buy, but will not be able to use upgraded ship parts. The parts go in levels (1-5 I believe, 5 being the best) and are only available by certification. In other words at novice level pilot you can only use level 1 ship parts, when you train up to a certain level 2 tier skill you can use level 2 ship parts and so on eventually reaching level 5 cert. Also you can loot some fairly decent ship parts from your kills, unless they only did that in beta. I was looting level 5 ship parts at one time.

Don't forget the ship hulls have mass limits. You have to pick and choose what equipment of what level you put into your ship. As it currently stands, all the money in the world won't let you put all top level gear (level 10) into a tier 4 or 5 ship.

No offense taken. However it would have been nice if the space game somehow, someway gave us all equal footing to start with. We have many leet players whose sole focus is PVP or killing Nightsisters and Krayts for uber loot. Yet without the services of many a broke entertainer/creature handler/ BE/ smuggler/Ranger/ etc ... their gaming enjoyment might be impaired. That said professions while not able to PVP on the ground, may well be looking forward to getting in on the action in space. Yet it seems that the holders of the pearls, lances, crystals etc... will still be on top. Oh well still looking forward to it.
