My JTL impression:

I, like everyone had very high hopes for JTL when I first logged in. JTL matched these hopes in MOST areas. Of course tho... a lot of the hopes were really impossible to expect. To me, JTL is a very fun twitchy based game... and has many intresting and new features. It is going to do good on the player economy, and give players (such as myself) who love FPS games something to do in SWG other then the sandwhich combat of the ground game. JTL will not dissapoint...

As for some of the "doomsday" reports people are posting....

JTL has some bugs... yes. However none of these are major bugs that will ruin the game. Some people are complaining about massive lag on the ground... other then SOME warping around player cities me and my group of friends have no experienced this. The game runs rather smooth. I mean, when there are 200 people at the star port its going to lag... but under normal play its just fine.

The AI in JTL has gotten a lot better in teh last week. It has become quite a bit harder. This makes for a much better experience. There are some people syaing the AI is not good at all. That was true a couple weeks ago... but now its much better. Sure low level AI is easy to kill... but let me tell you... higher end AI is tough.

There has also been much talk about the wipeing of all player structures the other day. I assure this could likely never happen on a live server. The reason for this is there are extensive measures on live server to prevent this. Such as backups of all items on the server.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Drawbacks:

Im not gonna lie and say there is nothing wrong with JTL. If has quite a few problems. However none are game breaking.

The first is that there is not a LOT of content in space. This is understandable becuase in reality there isnt much in space. There are duty missions that can keep you occupied, or the Deep space sectors to enjoy once your done with the pilot profession.

Going deeper on the last point there are no missions other then the story driven quest missions, and duty patrol missions. This in my mind is JTL's biggest set back. In the live game I like to be able to grab a couple missions and go do them for some cash if I need it. Since I love the twitchy aspect better I would lvoe to be able to get paying missions to go into space... but thats just simply something you cant do.

Lack of the GCW. Yes... as fun as JTL is the only place the GCW is really seen is in the Deep Space sector. Rebels try to kill a Star Destroyer... Imps kill a Rebel space station. Beyond that tho it is lacking... tho the GCW revamp is right around the corner

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

I know quite a bit of what I have said is already old news but I figure you cant cover some things without covering others. I figured it was right to do a tad bit of rummor control and post info from a person whos not mad at SOE for any reason and has nothing to gain by streetching the truth. In conclusion JTL is ready to go. Its got some more work to be done but is for the most part totally ready. A lot of bad things people are saying are either old news or over blown. The game is very playable and very fun... and there would be no reason to hold of the release.
