So I fancy myself to be a pretty good pilot, I was raised on Star Wars flight sims, games like JTL are my bread and butter. I am a master privateer from Smuggler's Alliance, and am told quite often by those that I fly with that I am a great pilot. So when my brother gets this mission he says: "this is impossible, bro, I need your help." So help I do...
The two of us finish the first escort no sweat. I'm killing 4 ships to his 1 and things are going smoothly. Second leg of the mission brings the A Wings... still no real problem here. They are spawning fast and taking 2-3 more shots to kill but we handle it.
3rd leg we have to disable and dock with the Advance Recon Fighter. No problem.
4th leg (how f'ing long is this thing?) is another escort (I think, it has been an hour or better at this point), thorugh hostile territory. Things are going fine for me but my brother in his TIE/in isn't faring as well. We make it through and now we have to run rendezvous with the shuttle.
Over we go and there is one wave of A Wings... I CAN'T DRAW THEIR FIRE!!! My brother is no more.
So we try again, same luck. So we bring in two other tier 3 privateers, we at least see the shuttle load and are swarmed with 10 A Wings that will not focus on anything but my brother.
WTH!!! Any tips?

It's the squadron you chose. Storm Squadron is the most difficult pilot tree in all of JTL. I'm convinced of that now!
Also, the waves will always concentrate their fire on the mission owner. It's very difficult to draw them off.

It's just strange because ONLY the last (seemed like 100 waves lol) few waves did this. Throughout the rest of the mission I could draw them off without any problem.
And yeah I've heard that Storm Squadron was the most difficult pilot path to take but DAMN. That is just ridiculous for two 3322 privateers, a master pilot dealilng over 9k per shot and the mission holder to not be able to finish this. And LONG!!! This thing makes an Anaconda look like an earthworm.

Heheh. When I helped others on the Storm Squadron missions, we were doing good to finish them with 3 of us, 2 of us Masters.
3322? You'll likely need 4 at least.

Damn, this is insane and all I can do is look down the road and the only light I see are the master mission! It's sad that your master missions, my friends of SS, are the easiest missions you'll have after tier 2! LOL

Have you tweaked all you can out of your brother's ship? Make sure the equipment is as good as it can get for this mission. If you just want him to accomplish the mission objectives/stick close to the freighterwhile everyone else handles the fighters, sacrifice some equipment to free up some mass and give him some overpowered shields & engine. That'll make him harder tochase/damage. Also make sure he has the nav computer command for engine overload. On that mission, with the right engine &reactor coupled with the overload,my Tie/In was faster thanthe A-wings. I could even outrun one of the Tie Interceptors in my group.

Yeah his TIE/in is pretty tricked out but I may have him sacrifice his firepower for more defences and let us handle the riff-raff. I need to give him a rundown in Flight Computer Use101 I think, I know he has the programs, not sure if he is using them though. I'm also going to have him micro-jump tonight when things get too hot during that last (I hope) leg where we have to meet up with the shuttle.
Thanks for the tips, I'll b sure to have him use EO

A-HA!!! That is the last leg, and he has to dock with the shuttle immediately. The waves will never end until he does. DO NOT FIGHT THEM FIRST! As soon as he sees the shuttle, dock with it, no more waves, mission done.

This is the last mission I was able to solo with my imp on scylla. Yes, that is the last objective. I fought probably 6 or 7 waves before I realized they weren't going to stop, so I docked under fire. Seems enemy npc's have a lot more mercy firing on doking targets than they do dogfighting ones.
Next mission is just about as long, tough and annoying with a gunboat at the end!

as a crimson pheonix pilot we get basicly the same mission for the first tier3 box but we get to do it in a longprobe so its alot easier. took me right at 2 hrs to do it since i just sat there fighting wave after wave of tier3 tie-interceptors before i booked it for wp and docked.

excellent! I'll be sure to make sure that he is sure that he knows what to do that way we are very sure.... just take care of the AWings that spawn before it? and we try to keep them busy?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, yes. Keep them busy, because they will try their best to get him.
