You most certainly do NOT need at least 4 others. The way to dispatch the Nova is to do exactly as the original poster suggested. Target individual components. Make your attack run on off angles, jink your ship to avoid as much of the nova's fire as possible, hit it, then once you've passed it, nail the boosters, and alter your flight path. Maintain about 800 away from the Nova while your shields recharge, engaging any escort fighters that bother you. When engaging the escorts, disable them by targeting the engines or reactors. Once your shields are at a reasonable level, make another run at the Nova. Once you've disabled the weapons, the Nova is a sitting duck. At that point, either disable the reactor or engine and dock, ignoring the escorts, or finish the escorts off and then hit the Nova.
Fly smart and you'll live.

Its the mission where you have to join with the interceptor squadron and destroy like 10 alliance fighters along with a Nova. How in the world can this be done when they all seem to agro u and not the interceptors.. Not to mention the Nova which has superior firepower.. Do I boost away out of range and come back or what?
I remember helping with this mission. You need at least 4 others, if they're masters, more if they're not, to get through it smoothly.

Ever seen: "Mission failed, because a critical ship has jumped out"? When you waste too much time, you fail also.
The smartest move is not to play this game any more. Yesterday I played Windows Hearts instead of SWG andit was more fun, than trying to do the very same mission a hundred times.

i will give it another go. Ive soloed every mission up to this point which in my estimation means I am a pretty fair pilot. The main issue seems to be that the squadron of interceptors only attack the nova while the 9 or so rebel ships all agro me. Its very difficult to stay behind one of the reb ships long enough to even disable it when u have up to 5 or 6 ships on your six. The interceptors are there very window dressing imho.. I will try to recruit a couple of wingman to help get the agro off my ass. Thanks for the replies

A week ago I tried helping someone on this mission. The Nova took out both of in a few seconds. We were totally fraustrated with wasting so much time on this mission only to die at the end and have to start over.

Rough mission for sure. It stopped me dead in my tracks, so I went and finished my master corsec on tempest. I have helped with this one a couple times on tempest wtih 4 pilots each time, tier 3 and 4 at the time.
