Read.
Better yet, let me highlight the poignant part:
Aktrez: Great, something we love to hear. Next question is, again, coming from more than just one person, we don't have a name down, this is just Miscellaneous, the question is: "The yacht is increasingly becoming popular with veterans, but why was the item limit set at 75? With the vast amount of room in the wonderful layout of the ship, and reduced server lag in space, is there something we're missing?"
TH: Well, yes and no. The reason it's 75 is simply because it's one lot. One lot is 75 items. In [JtL] Beta, when I posted the Friday Feature about the Yacht and the original design was that you could only have one multiplayer ship out at a time, and if you wanted to take out another one, you'd have to take all of the items off of one ship and place them on another, or put down another set of items if you decorated the two ships differently. And the community very clearly communicated to me that they did not like that. So I went back to the dev team to find out what alternatives we had. The alternative was, rather than attach a certain amount of database usage to each ship, we assigned it to a lot. So it's one lot.
Now, that takes us to the layer of complexity. A lot is 75 items. That's half a house. That's like having half a house running around with you inside the game world. The computer has to track all that and it affects your personal game performance on the client. So if we give you 150, or even more, it would be a lot you have to spend, and that's fine for some people, but it will slow your performance down, because those objects are associated with the character. And lot limits, and things like that, while we know, is not so popular with players, performance in space and performance for ground is key and when we make these decisions that are difficult, it's because we're keeping a broader picture, we're keeping the technology and all of these things working smoothly. And while we would love to give you as many items as players want, we can't right now. When someone out there at some college invents a new kind of computer, and a new kind of internet that will handle the data stream and a new kind of computer to process it, we will give you more lots.

It would seem one comunity cry out they chose to ignore, turned out to be the one nobody actually wanted. He still didnt say though if they whent with the other system what the item limit would have been in ships. I think that isa DEVs keen ability to fully answer a question, yet still dance around a straight answer. Either way it effects me not, but it would be nice to try the old system once to see if it was worth all the crying.

I remember the old system. It sucked thoroughly. You can pretty much write off owning a YT and a yacht, as you had to completely unload the YT if you wanted to fly your yacht, and vice versa.
No thanks. ![]()

That would suck, but honestly i think the yacht is a bit of a waste of room anyway. Although some people do like to cruise around, just not for me. Though the non attackable feature is nice i will have to admit that.

I'm a pure entertainer and my party yacht is an awesome JTL feature... not everything is about combat in-game. I love it and i wish I could spend more lots to it too. I find it odd TH mentioned it slows us down. Just like a house, I would expect the yacht and items to be loaded from the DB only when you actually launch it.
Anyways, I'm glad we get to spend lots for them, the yacht is a pure roleplay tool, but remember what the RP stands for in MMORPG.

Your house is stationary. It doesn't move, so it can hold more items without blowing up your processor and video card.

I dont know about you guys but I personally think that item limit in yachts is waaaaaaaaaay too low. I barely even have just the main room on the first floor how I want it. I'd still like to put a lot more into it and I'm already capped on the items allowed to be placed in my entire yacht. Thats just 1 room!? And I dont even have that much in it. I have nothing in the top floor, second floor, nothing except the main room. Increasing the number of items to like 200 or better yet 300 or more would just be very awesome lol. I use the yacht as my primary home (the only lots I have in use are my yacht and a small house on correlia for storage) and I would like it a lot if I could make every room just how I wanted it. If you agree, plz say so.

It would be nice to define how many lots you want to use when the yaght is generated. This lets the user determin how much of a performance hit he/she is willing to take. Some of us don't use any lots.

Note the dev said "if we were to increase it to 150 or more...."
That doesnt rule out 100 items for MP ships, still below that of a small house and would help a lot.
