Thread: I hate to ask this but...

After getting my pride handed to me in a flaming doggy bag tonight I decided it was wise to ask. The imperial and Rebel gunboats have blindspots about 20 degrees down and to the rear as I recall. I ran across a neutral gunboat tonight doing the Heavy X-wing quest. Is the blind spot the same? And moreover, would a well place concussion missile take out its rear gun as long as I have spares? This thing isn't flying a flixed pattern so it's hard to just line it up but I KNOW that if I get the right spot I can take that bastich down...Also do I need a shipwright for decay or can I see to taht myself (sorry just never ran across the problem before but at 560 chassis HP my poor little X-wing dies pretty quick!) The vette was a snap to disable. I just need to get a good way to stop that gunboat.

From what I hear, spacebombs are your friend.

The only problem with that plan is the X-wing only has one ordinance launcher. So it's not like I can just swap in the space bombs right after.... at least last I checked

MIssion AI gunboats are a nasty beast to be certain. The blindspots are there, but when its a tier5 fast mover, and you're lunch, they don't present themselves well. Don't get hung up on missiles, taking the time to get a lock can leave you open too long. Learn to joust them, use the obstacles to duck and hide, or in the case of your heavy X mission, let it and your corvette duke it out for a while.

Ah ha. Okay that makes a bit of sense. I'm just worried it'll prove too much for the vette is all. Granted it doesn't aggro me til it gets shot. I suppose I could clear the other enemies then try and put the hurt on it when it's not looking?

Actually this reminds me of something else. I've seen stuff about folks soloing ISDs as well as the Vette. I imagine the method is something similar, huh?

Heh actually I just finished it a little while ago. I messed up and let myself drift in front of the Vette after i disabled it but before it got retaken. Nearly died right there, lol. I had no weapons so I ran back to the station to get them repaired, by the time I ran back and forth the fighters had all but given up on the vette and were just sitting there. I killed a few then the vette hypered out.

...Suffice it to say I feel dirty for not doing it right
