Thread: NO damage being registered

I am a Tier 4-3-3-3 Imperial pilot and recently it seems I can't get any damage to register when shooting another ship even Tier 1's, 2's, and 3's which are usually only one or a couple hits to destroy. I use 3 MBPS cable internet service and rarely lag. I can see the hits on the ships but the shield meter rarely goes down. Has anyone else had a similar problem or found a solution to this? Thanks.

Yes im getting this problem too. Reading the forums it looks like the devs are trying to tell us its a problem with our information being sent in packets from our ISP. LOL. Whatever it is, its frustrating, but you are not alone...

Also been having the same problem since ROTW went live.

I found i could get the damage to register if I attacked ships from a head on position or from below, but rarely did any damage if i was attacking from above and/or behind.

If you lead by eye, as good pilots do, you register no damage. Lead using the lame gunsight target thingy, you do damage. Crap but true.

This is happening with me too - it's frustrating to watch your escort targets being destoyed by measly tier 2 mobs that take no damage!

In fact it makes me wonder - just why DID Luke switch off his targetting computer if it was THAT good!!!

Well, thank you everyone. I'll try to target by the stupid green thing tonight. My guns aren't damaged so that isn't the problem and SOE saying the problem is with the ISP is just plain dumb. Anyway, thanks for the help.

I sat about 25 m behind a disabled Tier 3 B-Wing last night...It was stopped of course and so was I...Took about 6 shots before any numbers changed. I have the same issue, Seems about 50% of my 'hits' do no damage. Im on 4000/384 cable, but with both ships NOT MOVING you cant tell me it had anything to do with lag.

That is nothing new. It has to do with the way the sheilds and armor are displayed. Your target has front and rear shields. The rear sheilds can be at 0% and the armor and engines can be toast, but the front sheilds are still at 75%ish...so you stop and stat shooting, and the display is reading some number yet you are actually widdling away the other sheild. This is best seen when looking at other space sims that do display a front and rear sheild rating on targets. Its easy to see what to hit there, but in JTL, itsone reading for 2 very different sheilds...that is what you are seeing.

It is also why a moving target can look like it is taking no damage. When chasing a target, the dmg is often hitting the rear..unless they change course, suddenly the ship is flying a spin andyou are pulling lead. You are now hitting a fresh sheild, and have to whittle it down. Suddenly you get a hit that nails the armor and the ship blots away. Its rear sheild having recharged some is now exposed to you while the sheild you dropped is away from you. You shots hit the better sheilds in the back and you are not hitting armor again.

This is what is happening. It is an issue us vets saw when JTL launched, and is more pronounced now do to something they did in the new expansion. I have noticed that the AI ships change tactics more, and dont always fly the same way, and I think that may have much to do with it...their sheilds are recharging as they change tactics.
