I wouldn't call this an idea, just an improvement perhaps.

When you are in a mood for change, you need to buy like two of each six or eight texture kits + a couple of paint kits to really be satisfied with your paintjob.

Why not just make one kit that has the ability to change into all textures, and have it show in a preview window?
The same thing with paint, but have it show BOTH the secondary and primary colors at once so you can really match the colors.

The Paint- and Texture kits are too expensive to just be available for one use.

Hear Hear! I've had 3 iterations of the Black Sunset (Dunelizard, Kimogila, Dunelizard again) all completely black. Looks well ace. Then I bought a very expensive Ixiyen, which handles like a greased cu-pa, but is just so plain looking! Still called the Black Sunset, despite the fact that the only black bits on it are two tiny stripes on the prow, which look more like shadow, to be honest.

Im all for some real customization when it comes to paint jobs. Maybe a decaling system where you can put your gang or squad colors on your ship, maybe the ability to put marks on the side showing how many kills or captures you've scored in that vessel.
