Don't expect this game to be just like the X-Wing games. If you go in expecting that then no matter what you will be disappointed. This game is it's own game, the sooner you realize that the more fun you'll have with it.

  • The HUD is 100% different from JTL,

  • you can perform space slides,

  • there is no tactical map,

  • you can customize your craft,

  • you cannot dock with capital ships / explore space stations,

  • you can easily get lost in the game,

  • you can't manually redirect power from shields to weapons or set shields 2x front / back.

  • If you don't expect these things (or the yellow reticle) you will love this game as so many of us do

I just thought I'd give you all a head's up about this for those of you who may have read Haden Blackman's comments in the IGN interview back in April. He said that they are really looking at this as "X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter" online. This game has a LOT in common with it's predecessors but it is nota sequel. It is more ofa spiritual successor, and it is a SUPERB foundation for the future.

  • there is no tactical map,

  • there is a 3D zone map though

  • you cannot dock with capital ships / explore space stations,

  • in some missions you can,but you cant explore them...

  • you can easily get lost in the game,

  • you can simply use the /target command, and then once you get a station forsay targeted, use the /waypoint command to make a waypoint there

  • you can't manually redirect power from shields to weapons or set shields 2x front / back.

  • you can but you need special droid program abilities

A few clarifications... lost in the game.... that was not intended to mean you don't know where you are, but you become IMMERSED in the game, you lose yourSELF in the game.

You can't dock with the capital ships like you were required to in the X-Wing series, in that they do not provide a base of operations.

The power redirection options are nothing like they were in the X-Wing series... it isn't done the same way was the point.

NOBODY get me wrong I love the game, there are simply elements that work differently.
