Thread: It's a Beta! *SIGH*

I am tired of all criticism of JTL being met by the standard "It's a beta" response. Listen, we all KNOW its a beta. Bugs happen, our job is to find them and report them. The problem is this "beta" is about to be shipped out to consumers in 4 days as a complete game and it just isn't ready. The discs have probably already been burned and are being packaged as I speak. That means big patches when you buy retail, cause they are still fixing things and tweaking. Call me crazy but I would expecttweaking to the physics engine should be completed before the game comes out, sadly that is not the case. Maybe instead of dismissing our problems with JTL as beta bugs you should realize that this is about to become another premature release of a game that could be good. Of course, SOE realeased SWG before it was ready so why not do the same for JTL? Constant patching is a way of life for an online game, but I feel SWG has to be patched way too many times for way too many issues.

Maybe I allowed my expectations to get too high, but I find the expansion, on the whole, purely average. Does it work? Yes, for the most part everything works. I have had not had any serious problems except for a gating issue with the Rebel missions on Yavin 4 which was fixed a week after it was reported. Then there is the ever present top/bottom invulnerable bug on AI ships. That's been around since I started beta almost a month ago. Don't get me started about the complete uselessness of astromechs.

I hop in my fighter, fly around, blow things up, move up the pilot teirs but I don't really have fun. It's really just more of the same mindless grinding that exists on the ground. There really isn't any "content" in space just different things to kill in different ways from the ground game. As you can tell I'm rather melancholy to JTL.

I was getting burned out on the ground element, but I was really hoping JTL would re-ignite my spark. Unfortunately it just made me sigh. Another excellent idea who's potential was never met because ofbare minimum execution.

Why post that in here if its about a beta issue? If your looking for people in the JTL open forums to even know what your talking about your preaching to an ampty church. Why not post this in the beta forums were people with an informed opinion can respond to your post? Or is this just an attempt to disway people from playing since you already im assuming pre ordered and are disapointed. Why not let people make their own decisions. No offense i take editorials with a grain of salt, people make your own opinion on the game not from 1 persons viewpoint.

To rebut to his opinion that JTL is not ready.... there currently is a poll running int the Beta:GeneralDiscussion forum asking this very question. The VAST majority of us Beta Testers feel that the game is in fact ready. The physics are near finalized, I'm sure they will forever be tweaking them minutely in order to attempt perfection. Astromechs are very useful if you simply use them. top/bottom invulnerablility has been addressed on most ships and will work to correct it on the rest. Take what this jaded gamer said with a grain of salt. He is the minority.

You ought to quit MMOPGs. All MMOPGs are grinding. That's what content is. The problem is when you start to view it as a chore instead of as fun. Don't know what else to tell you other than you probably need a break from MMOPGs altogether, because no matter which one you play you're going to run in to the same thing.

It stays fresh for me in this game because as soon as I get bored with something, I move on to another thing, whether it's combat, theme parks, random NPC quests, and now space. By spreading myself around in all these different things, each one of them will stay fresh. You're not meant to do just one thing over and over. If it becomes a bore, do something else! And if that doesn't satisfy you, find another game to play...

Hmmm.. you are right it no longer is a beta. Its basically "gold" at this point so saying "Its a Beta" is not accurate.

They have said many times that the expansion is all about combat and that this is the "core" of space. They will add additional features over the next year.

From reading your post I get the idea that you may just be burned out on the game right now and should take a break. This MMORPG is one of the deepest out there. I happen to like the expansion.

I posted here because I am a moron and cannot read which forum I'm in. Oops. Now I feel melancholy and retarded.

I implore everyone to make their own buying decision on JTL. I'm just offering one viewpoint from a beta tester.
