Hello fellow players and adventurers.

Just wanted to share my view to JTL after my time in beta. First of all, I have been playing SWG since the SWG beta, so I have seen a lot of changes and imporvments in this game through the last year and a half. Second, I am a MMORPG veteran since 6 years back (UO, EQ, AO, PE, E&B, EVE).

Jump to Lightspeed is fantastic. I simply love it. Is it perfect? Nooo. Have I ever seen a perfect expansion for a MMORPG ever? No. So I am not worried. Sure it needs polishing and it needs improvments, but that is what MMORPG games is all about, constant change and improvments. But I can say that this is one of the best expansions I have ever seen for a MMORPG.

The good stuff:

Wonderful graphics (as always in SWG), fun gameplay, mission and questbased skill improvment, a lot of ship models to choose from, pure PvP zones, no TEFs in space (coverts dont get faction when shooting down NPCs in space), grouping is needed and the expansion put the Star in Star Wars for this game. This is really a good expansion that adds a completly new level to the game and opens up for countless of oppertunities in the future.

The bad stuff:

All neutral factions uses the same ships (CorSec and RSF actually fly Hutt and Dark Sun ships), too little non-combat actions in space (very combat related expansion), non-smugglers can join the smugglers alliance and too few ships use Astromechs (in my opinion). I would also have liked to be able to board and walk around on space stations, but that might come in the future.

My best experience:

Being chased by pirates into a asteroid belt and using it to my advantegeto pick them of one after one while keeping them from getting a clear point of view of me when i ducked around the astroids like a madman. It was a thrilling experience with speed, danger and lots of action. The PvP zones are fun too, but I am not a PvPer by heart, so I died quickly in there. Those Star Destroyers are dangerous.

Rating:

This expansion gets four and a half chainsaws (out of five)in my big Psycho Guide of the Galaxy.

Finaly something really positive and constructive.

I haven't been to these boards for a while but that comment would suggest that the feedback on JtL hasn't been good. If that's the case then that;s probably why.

I'll admit I haven't played the beta for about 6 weeks now but I only played it for about a week and didn't enjoy it at all. My biggest complaint was the control system (but this may have been fixed).

It looks really nice but I think JtL will only appeal to the hardcore starwars people and those who like space games. I can see a lot of current ground game players not wanting the space part as it is really a completely different playstyle.

if you havent played beta in 6 weeks i would fire it and give it a try and like to hear what you think. the thing about beta is its constant change and in just the past week and a half i have seen so many changes for the best, and there are some that arent that great but they tend to over do it and reign it back in to acceptable levels.

you may be surprised at what sdifferent this month as compared to last month. i agree with the original poster, JTL has its good and bad points but that to be expected with any game, the upside is we as a community have input that can effect it, constantly changing and evolving. i was on the fence before JTL being a smuggler but i have been around for over a year and seen many changes since july 2003 and plan to stay around until at least july 2005 to see where the development goes. i think they are on the right track and we still havent touched the combat balance or the GCW revamp, i'll be darned if am going to give up now without seeing this all put together.

There's a quote about the original design of Galaxies that says it was too much like living the life of Uncle Owen and not enough like the life of Luke or Han Solo.

It's more or less mixed feedback.
