*Disclaimer* Sorry if this has been discussed previously or on other threads that I am unaware of *
**Note** I tried Beta for a day. I didnt like it. I didnt like the fact that all spaceship xp came from combat. I decided not to try pilot profession. ****
But I did purchase JTL so that I could see new things, get my yacht, and hang out with friends. Well my friend invited me to gun his Ywing. Now I was told it was not possible because I was neutral. Well we tried it, and I couldnt believe that I was actually allowed to join him. So here are some of my thoughts:
The Assisting Gunner Profession:
[Pros and Cons]
- Liked the fact that even as neutral I can join rebels and probably imps as a second gun, almost as if I was a hired for the job. Even though I enjoy it so much and hate to have it changed, I must honestly say it would take out the fun of those who do join factions. I mean here I am in a YWing gunning down TIEs when there are eager rebel pilots wanting the chance to take flight. Its kind of like all the neutrals taking 'smuggling missions' while smugglers are waiting for a revamp (Had to add that)
- We gunned down some Imps and some Pirates, but yet my faction pts were unchanged.
- My friend and I got gunned down and we ejected. He returned to his ship and I think I got logged out and ended up back in the starport. He got wounded pretty babdly, but I walked out of my escape pod unscarred. Perhaps I shouldnt lick a gift horse in the mouth, but I dont think I should have been spared so easily.
- Not necessarily a separate profession, because I have few SP too spare. However Im not a pilot, so what will I do with all this accumulated Space combat xp?
[Solutions]
-- Only allow players to join other players on faction ships if they are in that faction
-- Like killing people of certain factions, there should be changes in faction.
-- Make the gunners suffer wounds just like the pilots.
-- Allow us gunners to use the xp to purchase merits or badges, extra loot, or something to show how good we are at what we do, so we can show others that you dont have to be a pilot to be good in space.
*** Thoughts, comments, questions, bumps or anything else related to the 2nd gunnr postion**

Well first...
- We gunned down some Imps and some Pirates, but yet my faction pts were unchanged.
There are no FPs in space.
Second I dont think this profession would be that great becuase there would be nothing to learn. There would be no skill tree to progress through. Since the game is twitchy it really would have no purpose. Not to dis your idea, thats just my 2.

Thanks Stake
Your not dissing anything. I am one of those open-minded people who can have a discussion and not into flaming.
Well I guess I missed the reason to why there is no FP in space. Wouldnt that by an extreme contradiction to the point of the whole GCW?? I mean, why would you head off to fight a fleet of Reb/Imps if all your gonna do is get combat xp? Do the factions have no pride in space? I dont think I can even discuss this because it just seems hypocritical of the whole star wars mechanics.
Secondly, I wasnt trying to start a new profession with skill points, tree, and what not. I was actually trying to say that it is something someone can pursue without going through that whole mess. I like the fact that there is no profession for it, and encourage there never to be. But it is something I enjoy doing and would even consider joining a faction (If they implement fp in space) to assist my pilot friends. I just want something to give credit where credit is due. Im not gonna pursue pilot some Im just going to keep accumulating combat xp for no purpose. Ex: Been a gunner for a long time. Decide to trade 100k spaces combat xp for a badge. And do that. So I could have something like (3 Badges in gunning) Then perhaps trade 5 badges for a Badge a valor (1 Badge of Valor, 2 Badges in Gunning) Just to show that I have spcae combat xp as well.

Does anyone know if Space XP is tradeable in the Village? I'm sure it's not since there's no FS tree for space, but still..
