I'll preface this by saying I played in both the original game beta and JTL beta. I'm not sure I'm quitting, but I think I might.
Given the state the game when live in, and having seen the criticisms about balance and difficulty that were largely ignored (or the bugs not fixed like travel thinking you're on tatooine), I'm not sure I really want to keep playing. And I'm not really thrilled with the idea they get to keep my money for the development of the game. Because online games are done through account keys the store won't take it back (and rightfully so). So how do I go about returning JTL (x2 since I got it for both accounts) for a refund or is that not possible?
I presume its not possible, but I thought I'd ask just in case.

Its not possible at all. Most stores will even tell you once its opened its yours and yours alone with no way back.
On a side not I wouldl ike to say I dissagree with your beliefe that the game was released to early. The balance is fine.... still a few bugs but if they hold it in beta and dont release it till all the bugs are gone it will never see release.

not possible. once the box is opened, you cannot return it to any retailer (or at least honest ones) if they are unopened then you can return them anywhere... opened... well, you just ate the $60. If you played beta and didn't like it... why the heck did you spend $60? beta and what is out right now is the exact same...

I was thinking more return it to SOE so they could redistribute the account key if they feel like it. Like all sorts of products if you open it and are unhappy you can always call the manufacturer to return it.
I spent the money because I quit beta once I got master and all my resources disappeared (part of a bug fix I grant). Which was a couple of weeks left. I didn't have time to do anything meaningful on a new character etc... at that point. Granted when I quit the game wasn't bad. They seem to have made some last minute changes to ship mass, and mission difficulty.
The whole of itemization is so horribly broken I can't imagine how anyone thought it should go live like that.
I had also pre ordered thinking I'd be thrilled to get my copy.
I certainly grant that had I done black epsilon or storm squadron in beta I wouldn't have bought the game at all, but I did the inquisition which seemed to get fixed up reasonably well (perhaps it was just the most popular? I don't know).

SOE would have no reason to take an re-distribute a CD-key when in a second they can make 10,000 new ones.

SOE will not refund your money at all. The only possible reimbursement you could get is if the disc were defective in anyway... and they'll just send you a new disc.yer own fault for not tryin the beta before it launched though, or at the very least only opening one box to see if it was what you thought. could have saved 30 bucks that way. The game is actually 10 times better than it was before the wipe, but i guess that's just my opinion.

Actually, you can return quite a lot of software if it's been opened. Many EULAs have a line that says "If you do not agree with the terms and conditions of this EULA, please return the item to the retailer." Since the EULA is not provided until you open a product and begin the install process, you are unable to decide you do not want to abide by the EULA until you begin installation. ONce you see that, you can return the product if the EULA instructs you to do so, copyright laws notwithstanding. of course, if you registered your copy, it's kind of hard to say you don't like the EULA...

Read the license agreement carefully and you will see that SOE says clearly that they can change the game ANYtime and so on....
I for myself enjoy the game much. Yes there are bugs. But every program has bugs. Nothing in this game is really unplayable and as long as you love StarWars and enjoy roleplaying this game is the first joice. And JTL is in my eyes great. Never had so much fun playing the last months.
When you dont enjoy the game, so stop playing and save your bucks for the account. Nobody forces you to play a game you don't want to.
I see now - SOE can never make it right for some people....
