If you have the credits, buy both.
Reason: Interceptor should be your general purpose fighter, use the Bomber to assist friends in T3 and T4 missions against cap ships. You'd need an ungodly engine to make a bomber nimble. Not saying it can't be done...it'd just take a few dozen sacrifices to the loot gods.

Depends on your style...
If your a slower, like to hit really hard, get the Bomber.
If you like speed and manuverability over protection get an Interceptor.
I'm personally an Interceptor Pilot, I got great reflexes... damn little brother breaking joystick!!! ok, it's a good ship, and it's really fun to kick in Engine Overload 2, and go really fast, I don't have too much trouble with rebels... just that I can't handle 8 of them at once. I'm proud to say I got myself to 3-3-2-2 Imperial Pilot Solo.

In T3 and T4 dogfights, speed and manueverability is life. Mass and firepower means nothing if you don't have the leverage to bring the firepower to bear before the target ducks out of your front quadrant.

Same here 3-3-2-2 but stuck on Emesary mission, that ship just hits too hard shields cant handle it.

Wow, pretty impressive feat. Also tells me you are not flying with Storm Squadron. For the first tier 3 mission you need at least a decent group of about 4.

Load a Mk2 Proton tube and target the turret first to disable it and render the Nova less of a problem. With any luck you'll get two missiles fired before you have to break off for another pass.
That, or get someone to stay back in a Bomber and pelt the sumb*tch with missiles.
