Thread: Freelance Tier 2 mission Stop the ships before they leave the sector ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE

I am having a very hard time with the mission received from the egocentic captain where I have to destroy 3 waves of ships. The problem is that the second set of ships arrive and then about 1 minute later, the 3rd wave shows up moving away from me. By the time I kill the 2nd wave a minute later, no matter how much I use the booster, I cannot catch the 3rd wave before they hyperspace out.


It's incredibly frustrating since I have a considerably fast ship and strong weapons. Has anyone been able to get across the galaxy quick enough to do this? If not, devs, please decrease the distrance by at least 2000 meters to make it at least possible.

I also have been having alot of trouble with the tier 2 missions - am Pilot 1111 and have a dunelizard - the problem I am having is the tie fighter (tier 3) that shows up at the end, it flys circles around me, I am pretty dog gone skilled at the flying, but I can hardly turn and roll and get a shot off before it zooms pass me and when I roll and turn again it already is flying pass me again, it hasn't killed me yet, but I fail by taking so long to destroy it. I am shipwright too, so am trying tonight some custom made stuff to see if that helps.

A suggestion, not that I've got to this particular mission yet...

Rather than destroying the ships, what about disabling their engines? Doesn't seem to take as long. You can then blow them up after the waves have finished coming.

How do you target just the engines?


I had this same problem but I think the key is to destroy the targets first ( the tier 3s) and then pick up the others when your main mission targets are taken care of.


If you're having a hard time turning in a Dunelizard, decrease the throttle to about 60% then turn...MUCH quicker turn radius.

I went through tier 2 with really no problems. I trying to rember wich box the mission you are talking about was. IHes what I did., all has been said but just to let you know it does work i did it. I had a dunelizzard and I always fly about 3/4 throttle. Be sure to use the pitch control when they pass you as it is much quicker than a turn. Use the " [ " or " ] " key to target the enemys engine. They are alot easyer to hit when they arent moving hehehe. Last thng I did and im not sure how much this helps but you might want to try it. When i set up my lizzard I got the biggest blasters I could find. In fact they were so heavy that I could not load my missles at all. I dont use missles to much because of the cost of replacing them. hope this helps

Speed - You totally move faster in a turn if you slow down... do not stop though...then you move slow... I actually slow down to 50% in the turn and then kick it back to 100% coming out of the turn to land right behind the target.


Groups - I totally agree that they help. I will try that this evening and have someone do the distraction.


Disabling engines - Helps a lot but I have two sets of guns and they pretty knock the crap out the ship. The only problem is that the 2nd wave has 4 fighters which even if I destroyed them all in 1 minute, I would still havea hard time catching those other 3 ships. Annoying I would say... but a group is the only option left.

GET IN A GROUP


even having 1 or 2 other people with u while u do your missions helps imencly. im 3-3-3-3 rebel pilot, and the last mission i had to do, had me get ambushed by everything TIE(teir 3 and 4 ships mind u), tried 4 times and still couldnt do it. so i asked my guild to help me, only 6 people were able to help, but it did a lot. by just having them distract the ambush, i could boost to my mission and complete it. so just ask your guild, or find some people in game and ask um for help.

which brings to my next point, TIE Agressors are the hardest teir 4 ship ive ever had to kill. lol

daryl666 has a point, disable their engines does the trick. in game the keys that target the sub systems are [ and ] . remember though, the targets sheilds AND armor have to be down to at least 50% before it will start damaging the engines(u will know when they are disabled because they blow off the ship(unless its a TIE, in which case it just slows down to a stop.))

dont know if you tried this but if your flying at full throttle, your turning radius is worse, try slowing to about 5/6 full and see if you cant catch up with them in the turns...
