I took Freelancer because I wanted to be the riff raft in the galaxy, not to avoid PVP by any means. But now that I'm 3 boxes away from Flight Mastery I'm beginning to question the utility of it.
1. Freelancer flight command (Our one and only) is about as usefull as a wet klenex with the new reactors that can easily hit 16,000k energy output
2. Freelancer Pilot tricks aren't much better. Energy Pulse is very usefull, IFF is very usefull but not unique to Freelancer, Pirate Trap isa sick joke. Pirate trap is suppose to call in a group of Pirates that randomly attack everything in the vicinity and you. However what really happens is it calls a group of pirates that attacks ONLY YOU. So effectively you've used up your trick for a while just to dump more trouble on yourself.
3. Freelancer Ships:
3a. No true master box fighter
3b. Blacksun ships hulls are about as strong as that wet klenex earlier
3c. The Ixiyen has the same mounts as the Dunelizard, handles worse, and has 1/2 the hit points for 10,000 additional mass
4d. Pitifull mass for the profile size of Freelancer ships (I.E. far easier to hit). The Kimogila dwarfs the Y-Wing yet only has 90,000k mass, sure it has 3200 hit points on the chassis but not much use once your armor is gone anyway.

ROTF, i remember that, i called in the pirate thing...about a minute and a half later my ship was all over the galaxy, in lil bitty pieces just because my renforcements wanted to kill me instead of my targets.

do you realize that freelancers are one of the most efficient pilots out there ?
1st, u can use EVERY droid program from EVERY faction, just get a rebel and an imp players to program the chips for you. not to mention that reactor overload is the most usefull one, by far, along with imp's engine overload.
2nd tricks are similar for every profession, I.E. doesn't make much difference, one that's cool is emergency weapons, but if it fails you're screwed.
3rd about your ship, at tier 2 (if I remember) you get to use 3 projectile weapons (blasters), along with a missile launcher, imps doesn't get that, we're stuck with one poor single blaster until tier 4, try doing tier 3 missions with one blaster, I had a tier 2 neutral 1211 pilot to help me on my tier 3 mission, he did better than I at 3322, and WITHOUT any chip.
and for the "bus" type ships, the heavy ones, they're simply AWESOME if you find out how to use em, here's the secret: use throttle, don't stay at max everytime, best turns are around 60/75%, once you get that, you're unstoppable.
stop whining about neutral ships, they're at the top list of top ships. as an imp you get stuck with cheezy gear until you hit tier 4, and even then, while neutral use 3 blasters, the best imp ship only uses two, wich makes a HUGE difference.

Yamanda, I went from Tier 0 to Tier 4 Alliance in a Z-95 in beta, and redid it to Tier3 and again when they changed the masses. I also went Tier 0 to Tier 4 Imperial in Beta in Just a TIE interceptor once I could pilot it after they changed the masses. I know far well and good how to manage speed in this game. There is no documentation I've seen anywhere that Freelancer could use the droid commands from the other Pilot classes, only that the command chipscould be traded even if you could not program them yourself (page 30). The reactor overload is NOT usefull if you have taken the time to build a power load balanced ship.
Your comment about tricks is quite inaccurate, 1. Bomber Strike does notbackfire on Imperials 2. Emergency Shields never fails and makes you very close to invincible for Alliance pilots
And the neutral ships are no better than the Imperial ones, Even though you CAN mount 3 weapons on a Kimogila, you are not going to mount 3 high end weapons, forget about the launcher with only 90,000 mass. Its a huge target that the NPCs never miss and it handles like the Y-Wing. Frankly I feel both the Imperial and Neutral craft are out of wack. The B-Wing can mount 4 weapons and has the mass to pack them, the Oppressor gets 1. The Riha is an even bigger target for just a boost up of 45k mass. I mean Have you pulled up to one and compared the size of the ships? The thing is nearly as long as a YT-1300.
Now you accuse me of whining, seems that you've taken this opportunity to do some whining of your own on the Imperial side of the fence. My main character is Rebel and I chose to do Freelancer because I hadn't done it in Beta, now I'm beginning to think it was a mistake.

ANY pilot can use droid commands from other class, I know it cause I'm doing it, plain and simple.
and you can mount 3 blasters on a kimo and a... well the tier 4 ship. 3 level 5 weapons would hit harder than one level 7.
I don't want to argue with you, cause it seems to be a waste of time, so stay in your "non happy/screw soe" state, I'll log in and have fun playing the game, bye.

perhaps you can merge your thoughts with that thread: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=lightspeed&message.id=131003
so the devs may see it easier
