When I purchased JTL I got a starter ship but (syyk) but it did NOT come with hyperspace functionality. Neither did my Sorosub. From what I've read getting to Kashyyk (sp?) requires you to hperspace over to it, but since I don't have that capability (even though I have JTL) do I need to buy a new starter ship that has a hyperdrive?
I appreciate any help on this one.
Thanks.

your sorosub should have a hyperdrive, you actually have to go into space and hypersapce to it though.

Okay thanks! I will check the sorosub again for a hyperdrive. For some reason I thought it didn't have one.
Thanks again for your help.

Alll ships come with a hyperdrive. That was a modification made a few months ago. When in space press 'h' select the destination then click the hyperspace button.

Can you get to Kashyyk (sp?) via public transportation at tje space ports? This option is not appearing on my maps. If not, what ships have hyperspace that will get me there. I apologize in advance if this question has been beaten to death. I am a newb to this game and the forum's search feature is broken. Thanks

No.
All ships have hyperspace, the tutorials and manual are wrong.

The Novice freebieships given by the trainers are NOT hyperspace capable. All crafted and later quest based fighters are hyperspace capable.

They changed this shortly after the JTL release. All novice ships are hyperspace capable now.
