A great part of the old toys was the battle scar decals. Does anyone else think it would be really cool if your ships accumulated laser blast marks, and other battle scars as time went on?
There could be two types of visible damage.
- Actual damage art: incurred when your ship's components are disabled. Could be holes in the hull, sparking droid (droid interface), weapons with exploded barrels, destroyed engines, etc. Repaired when your ship is repaired.
- Cosmetic damage art: incurred when weapons fire penetrates your shields. This would be laser burns on the hull, pock marks, etc. This would be repaired by applying a paint kit.
The cosmetic damage would drive demand for paint kits, and also let players give their ships personality by keeping it.
Neither type of damageartwould impact the way your ship performs, it would just be an art addition.
The actual damage art could add another level to PvP as you would be able to tell when you took out your opponents ability to use their droid, etc. Well, if PvP weren't over so quickly...
This wouldn't have to apply just to ships either. It could be applied to anything with a paint kit. Droids, speeders, etc. Scars on pets? It would be much better than the customizations that just fade over time.
