Im doing the beginning space mining missions. I blast away at a big asteroid and, eventually it spawns a big chunk. I chase down the big chunk blast it and get smaller chunks and , sometimes, resources. Then I go after the smaller chunks, blast them and they disappear and I get nothing.
I am 300 - 100 meters from the chunks when I blast them, is there a "magic distance" I should be when I shoot? Is my poor luck because I am using the fist mining laser given to me by the quest NPC on Rori?

I'd use either the class II mining laser, or a combo of the mining laser and tractor beam. That seems to work well for me....
