I really think we should get rewarded/punished for our performance in Deep Space PvP fights. I would suggest 60k Prestige points and some 1k Faction Pointsto be gained/loosed after PvP battles in Deep Space, that would encourage the best pilots to get and staythere more often, and the new unexperienced pilots to train and prepare before atampting to travel to such a dangerous place in Space.

Any thougths about how we can make Space Combat more encouraging?

Punishing anyone for PVP is always a bad idea, in any game, if the punishment does any real damage (aka: chassis damage, loss of faction or prestige points). Unless you want to be the only guy flying around out there, then don't ask for punishments.

Rather, there should be serious rewards for hard fought PVP kills. Kills should be tallied and rewards given at certain points, or certain prestige levels. Chassis repair kits (brings to full original value), anti-decay kits, rare chassis schematics for shipwrights (JSF, Belbullab-22, ARC-170 I think should EVENTUALLY be craftable), odd vehicles (maybe win an "Ugly"... I'd love to have a TIE with X-wing wings), rare decorations. Etc.

However, these rewards should be difficult and take a long time to get.

Capitol ships for guild owners... Nuff said... Thatll bring pvp to space, I'd immediately coordinate a pvp DS event with a rebel group for some fleet action Also good for roleplay, you can assign members to certain positions. Small capitols ships are a win win situation no matter how you look at it... so they should just go through with the fan fest film and give em to us in the future , don't allow people in pvp to disable them, then give the ship captain and option...

option 1: Escape pod and scuttle the ship

option 2: Defend at all costs

in case of option 2, the other overt factions are permitted to board the ship and attack the players on board... omg this would be amazing...

Is this a joke? Noone goes to Deep Space now, so you think up a way to penalize someone even further into not wanting to go to Deep Space? You really think thats a good idea?

If you want to have LOTS of fun (which is what a game is supposed to be, not penalties) feel rewarded with something by making master pilot, and increase the useability of deep space as a PvP zone there is a real simple way to do it.

The way deep space should be:

You go to your factions station and enter deep space. At that time, your ship becomes invulnerable to a.) permanent dmg to components. b) permanet dmg to chassis upon death.

Your Avatar becomes a) invulnerable to wounds. b) invulnerable to Battle Fatigue

When you are killed in deep space, you respawn inside deep space. You go kill some more and attempt to destroy the base of operations.

All the prestige you gain would remain the same, since, as far as I can see, it is only useful to enter deep space.

Yep, that's right. Quake in space. That is what Deep Space should be. No penalties, no rules to kill the fun. THAT would be a reward for being a master. You get to play a PvP space shooter and have fun. They could add rewards for performance while in deep space for that matter. Not just "prestige" points. Real Rewards for being "the man" while fighting for your faction against PC's and NPC's. I also support adding "many" of these type of zones for master level pilots. They can even be instance zones for that matter.

In addition to this, in order to give master pilots some more perks, Ipropose the following:

1)The removal of NPC interplanetary travel except between a planet and it's moon (Ie. Rori to Naboo). You need to go to Dathomir? Find a master pilot with a POB and get a ride or fly your own Yacht. Obi- Wan and Luke had to hire Han and Chewie to get to Alderaan. There was no galactic shuttle system. Immersion. SWG feeling. There ya go!

2) The removal of the "travel" button from ALL starship and travel terminals (city to city shuttleports obviously excluded). Just exactly how much of an inconvienience is it to launch your ship and hyperspace to Kashyyyk? Personally, I love this and feel the entire interplanetary travel system should be this way....obviously.

3.) Removal of the "you cannot use thisterminal while in combat" penalty so you can make a "real" getaway from a hostile situation on the ground and get to space pronto...you know, just like you saw so many times in the movies...It would only apply to the Starship terminals (again not shuttle ports) but here is the catch...

If you use the Starship Terminal during combat and get you and your friends boarded and launched into space, when you spawn, a wing of the opposing factions intercept fighters spawns and attacks you until you either fight them off or hyperspace to a different system.

PvP in space should be fun. It should be easy to experience and it should be rewarding. Penalties, while some people feel are necessary, do NOTHING to enhance a game or make it fun. In fact, they do just the opposite. It is the great SWG flaw. Somewhere along the way, game developers , in particular MMO's devs, have lost sight of this. They bog down their games with so many penalties and negative effects from trying to have fun, that the game becomes tedious work and NO FUN TO PLAY!

I propose fun when playing a game. My suggestions above would be.

Ahh I do have one viable penalty...if the opposing faction destroys your base (ISD/Space Station) then you could lose something I suppose, prestige, faction...or even better....how about control of a star system? YOu know , bring the GCW to space, where the vast majority of it was fought anyway?

There should be a means of conveying system control and the benefits of such. What these could be, I have a few ideas, but I dont want to hijack this thread anymore than I already have so...
