Thread: Privateer RSF tier 4 mission.. inspect the mining freighter?

Simple. I'm ordered to inspect the freighter for contraband. I inspect it and find computer equipment. I recieve no further orders after I've inspected it, so I disable and board it and take the cargo. Still nothing. I destroy it. Still nothing. With no way to proceed I jump out. Mission failed. WTH?

Sounds to me like a bug. There is a possibility that you are only meant to inspect it then you're supposed to go to another area and inspect another one and the 2nd spawn just isn't happening. So it does indeed sound like the mission's bugged somehow.

Yeah I thought of that, since the waypoint does say "potential target location", but a new waypoint never comes up after I scan the ship.

Just did this one myself a couple days ago.
The "computer components" and some-kind-of "gas shipments" aren't the right shipments. If you inspect the cargo and it says this, blow up the freighter. Then hyperspace to one of the other waypoints within the sector (I think the nearest one is number 3 -- not sure). Go back and there should be another freighter. Inspect that. If it's the right one, a message will say something like "this is the one!" (otherwise, repeat the process). When it's the right one, blow it's engines and board it.

Thanx. Tried this and it worked after 2 tries. Got the computer hardware, then the gas, then the right target showed up. Never would've thought of that. When I first ran the mission, my heart sunk when I saw it was just a static spawn - because I'm sure at some point I was told I was supposed to escort this thing. Would've been a lot better if a ship actually hypered in after I arrived at the waypoint, and then I inspect it while escorting it home.
