Please consider the following idea as just a start to what could become the some of best GCW content in the game.
(a Rebel pilot makes contact with a nearby Rebel Station)
pilot: "Any news from the front?"
pilot: "Any news from the front?"
station: "Hail [pilot's name]! We have just received word that one of our Medical Frigate'sfrom [whatever fleet] has been pulled from Hyperspace by an Imperial Interdictor Star Destroyer, and is in need of immediate assistance!"
pilot: "Acknowledged! What can I do to help?"
pilot: "Acknowledged! What can I do to help?"
station: "The Frigate's escorts (gunboats, or a corvette, etc) are under heavyfighter/gunboatattack and need help defending the Frigate. There is also an attempt being made to knock out the Interdictors gravity well generators so that the Frigate can escape to Hyperspace."
pilot: (the pilot is presented with the two options) "I will help to defend the Frigate from fighter/gunboat attacks!" or "I will join the assault force to take out the gravity well generators on the Interdictor!"
station: "Roger that [pilot's name], we're sending word of your assistance to the fleet. Stand by for Hyperspace coordinates!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(an Imperial pilot makes contact with a nearby Imperial station)
pilot: "Any news from the front?"
station: "Hail [pilot's name]! We have just received word that one of our Interdictor Star Destroyershaspulled a Rebel Medical Frigate from Hyperspace and is currently engaged in capturing it, but they are experiencing fierce resistance from her escorts. We have also intercepted transmissions that they are requesting assistance from any nearby Rebel ships!"
pilot: "Acknowledged! What can I do to help?"
pilot: "Acknowledged! What can I do to help?"
station: "The Frigate's escorts (gunboats, and/or a corvette, etc) are putting up a strong defense and making it impossible for our gunships to board the Frigate. The Interdictor is also under direct assault by fighters from the Frigate and inbound Rebel reinforcements that are responding to thier distress signal. We believe they may be trying to disable the gravity well generators on the Interdictor, which would allow the rebel ships to escape!"
pilot: (the pilot is presented with the two options) "I will help to destroy the Frigate's escorts so it can be boarded and captured!" or "I will help to defend the Interdictor and prevent the Rebel's from escaping!"
station: "Roger that [pilot's name], we're sending word of your assistance to the fleet. Stand by for Hyperspace coordinates!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*At this point, the mission checks to see if the pilot is in a group, and if so, his/her group members are prompted with the option to join in the mission. All group members who accept will join with the same mission goal(s) that the original pilot chooses from the station. Once each player has accepted the mission, his/her ship's computer will begin calculating the jump to hyperspace to where the frigate has been trapped. (this automatic hyperspace jump would be more immersive in lieu of just a loading screen, ala Deep Space or Kessel)*
Now, keep in mind, the players who are going on this mission will have a goal to accomplish. Depending on which mission they chose, the AI ships in the instance will have to be set to accomplish the opposite mission in x ammount of time. If the Rebel players chose to defend their Frigate, the Rebel AI ships should be able to disable the gravity well generatorsin an appropriate ammount of time, and it's just up to the players to survive and prevent the frigate from being captured. Likewise, if the players chose to attack and disable the generators themselves, the enemy AI should be appropriately efficient at destroying the Frigate's escorts and boarding her after a certain ammount of time. Either goal should have a set event timer that the AI will have to comply with. Players in the instance should receive system/quest messages updating them on overall progress, one way or another (winning or losing). We have seen missions like this before in previous Star Wars space shooters, so it's not anything new, and I know it can be implimented!
Some of you may be saying, "wait a minute.. a Star Destroyer needing help with a frigate? Pffft!" Well, this is an INTERDICTOR class SD. They are small, designed for a specific purpose, and don't have much in the way of a fighter compliment, much like a frigate. Thus, this should be an even fight.
Appropriately named quest badges could be awarded upon mission success, and perhaps even a mission medal that players could wear. What I'd really like to see is perhaps a set of campaign/mission medals that you could add to your Master Pilot reward jacket and would be visible when you equip it. Who knows!
Please discuss with your comments/ideas! Devs/Correspondants, I'd love to see your input as well!

Not a bad idea, but aren't Interdictor SD usually accompanied with a few regular Star Destroyers?
Other than that it's a very good idea but I don't see it being implemented soon or if ever ![]()

true, but that silly detail can be overlooked in favor of a fun mission

Good idea. And instances like this would keep the lag down from others jumping in in the middle of the fight and such. I wasn't sure how I felt about instances when ROTW launched but I like them now if for no other reason than a reduction in lag.

Good idea but you could have them more like events. Have simlair missions that run every night. Say one like the one listed above or one that deals with a new space station. (option would be. Do you take down the space station or get the generails flag ship.) These would have differnt space back drops. You would have to be pvp to go. But when your there it would be a blasted because so many other pvp ships would be there. Lets say that if you get blown up you can't re-enter for 20 mins or so.
