I've only just decided to start using my Tie for more than just travelling between planets. Can anyone tell me whats the best way to grind up to master pilot. What gives the most piloting xp?

If you are imperial and if you are even Storm Squadron, then you got the hardest pilot grind ahead of you. Imperial Ships have only 2 weapons (exept bomber(wich is a slug) and advanced (wich you dont get until tier 4) and oppressor ( wich is a master ship). In addition you will have to do most your missions in endor, wihc in turn means you will cross many random spawns, wich will itntervene into your missions.

If you want it easier, then become a Neutral pilot for the corsecs

But Generally: For the EXP Grind before Tier3 you should stick with the Suty Missions. Exept if you got a buddy to help ya. then you can go to endor, there´s a tier 3 kimogila endless spawn, each kimo gives ya 1664 exp (twice if you mastered a pilot allready before). theres also a tier 4 BlackSun and a tier4 Death Watch spawn... those get you about 4k exp a piece. There´s also a tier 3 hutt spawn.

Cheers. What is Storm Squadron? I am an Imp, does that mean I am automatically in Storm Squadron? I have been doing Duty missions from Tattooine but only getting about 100 xp per pirate!

The Storm Squadron is one of 3 Imperial Squadrons. The Storm Squadron starts on tatooine in the city of bestine. The other squadrons start on other planets (not sure wich though).

As for the Duty missions you currently do... it is normal that you onloy get 100/200 exp per kill of tier1 enemies, this will rise the higher tier your enemies get, until tier5, wich is the highest tier for NPC ships.

Destroy duty missions. They start off slow, but by the end, when the enemy comes in 7-ship waves, you rack-up XP like mad. If you can reach the end of a tier-appropriate duty mission, you can get 3/4 of a box.

Don't grind. Fly. Have fun. Farm. Get faction XP. Mine. Enjoy yourself. Griding will make you sick of flying.

Not entirely true. I mastered Rebel Twice (Crimson Phoenix/Vortex) Neutral Thrice (Smugg Twice/RSF once) and Imperial twice 8both time Stor Squadron) and I still love space... I practically LIVE in space

Allways helping noobs grind up mostly, but also just RE-Loot collecting and REing like mad

SPACE ROCKS!

Or the obvious one... if you're lazy...just find a master pilot with a MP ship... Krayt tends to be the best... you'll get XP faster than you know what to do with it

Storm Squadron starts on Tatooine;
Black Epsilon starts on Talus;
Imperial Inquisition starts on Naboo.

I found Black Epsilon juast as hard as Storm to be honest, I'm terrible at taking down gunboats, Tier 3 was hellish.

I don't know how many times I have practiced this and seen it done by other people but I guess I am just too clumsy as i always mess it up. Out of at least 20 attempts on tier 5's I have taken the gunboat twice

Below the "Rebel" gunboats (the ones with the large wings, that look like a large version of a lambda shuttle without the top wing) have only one gun below, ones you have taken that out it is easy to down the rest, cuz you just stay below and keep firing.

But there´s other possibilities... you can also slowly move up to the gunboat (up to 570meters) and then continiously fire. at this distance it has a very hard time hitting you (especially if you fly a small ship). Caution on this method though, not working every time. You can Also find out wich of the gunboats weapons fire to its backside and take those out first... then you can stay behind it.

All you need is patience, some good ship and a little piece of flexibility

Yeah I've seen the coming from below and blasting the back gun (no 2 I think) done many times but it don't work for me.I'm pretty sure its the patience I'm lacking hehe.

I think it is more the self-trust. You go at this with the assumption that you will not make it and die...

And if someone thinks like that he or she will uncontiously work towards it!

Hence... Start with thinkin "I willkill the darn thing without breaking asweat" and go there and DO IT

I would be happy to show you if you are on Chimaera... if not... then keep trying.. with the right attitude you WILL be able to do it VERY fast

I done a 30 TIE mission once with only gunboats (well imperial gunboats... My Main is Rebel Master).

Yeah Bomb I am on Chim. Thanks for the offer and that would be appreciated. I dropped reb master yesterday to get the JSF though so I am currently grinding SA. I'll drop you a line once I get to tier four or so.
