Call me old fasioned, but I'm a firm beleiver in an officer (or pilot)also being a gentleman (or gentlelady as the case may be).
Do you have a code of conduct or a set of rules you follow?
Mycode as it stands is fairly simple.
- Civillians are innocent untill they fireon you. When they do fire, they are criminals and thus, cannon fodder.Under any other circumstance, protect them with your life.
- Rookies will never learn from thier mistakes unless they live. Give advice when and where you can, just not in the middle of a dogfight.
- If your opponant is flying under clear IFF, they're looking for trouble. Do not dissapoint them.
- 'Warning shot' is a single volley. After that, shoot to kill.
- The real war is fought in the air and in space. When out of the cockpit, leave your animosity there.
- Taunt the enemy if you really, really must. Just don't expect to be given any respect for it.

My Imperial pilot would agree with all of those except the first... if a civilian ship shows as "hostile" on my radar, it must be for a reason. I have encountered such ships in the Endor sector - they have been destroyed for entering restricted space.

here's a conduct question I have:
If you see a pvp fight, do you come to the aid of your ally, or stay back to make sure you don't spoil a good fight?

What if you see 2 on 1 against your factional ally pilot?

Fair point. I hope you gave them a warning shop up- err, across thier nose.

Personally? I'd jump in on the side of an allied pilot if they were outnumbered.
If it were the other way round and we outnumbered them, I'd back off but keep an eye on the situation, just in case.

Same thing, but I don't fire warning shots. If they're marked, and I'm cleared to kill, I'm not going to waste any time, or give them a chance to get away.
Perhaps a bit extreme, but it gets the job done properly.

generally, i won't fire warning shots either. that's because i pvp most of the time in deep space, and if they're there, they should know better to pay attention. if i'm not in DS, i'll give a warning shot. also, i'm usually in space with a group of at least 3 people, and we definitely give the enemy a fighting chance by not all mobbing him at once...we'll generally take turns, 1v1. it's just a little more fun that way, more of a challenge than all rushing in shooting and it being over.

If you are in a heavy ship expect 2 seconds tops. Flying bub/jsf/awing/etc with 68-7x PYRs then expect it to take a while....barring epulse of course.
