It was common knowledge that the most exciting parts of the original trilogy was when the Empire was after Han Solo! The most impressive thing about the YT-1300 was its capability to out run the empire in situations, even when the hyperdrives where down and needed repair.
My thing is I had a mission where I was chased, through astroids by a Teir 5 gunship that rocks! It was an awsome feeling knowing this thing was after me including some fighter support!
I have a small Verkasi ship that has an engine in it that boasts speeds of up to 1500 with boosters. I was flying circles around the thing while battling fighters and boosting away, taking it through the asteroid feilds to slow it down. Immediatly it hit me.
We are missing those chase type missions that make the Falcon such a prize! Those missions that say, hey my ship is fast as hell and you aint catching this rust bucket!
We need missions where Escape is the intention and jumping from system to system to elude enemies are the key points to game play!
Think of it this way, even imperials have to safe guard secret documents. Imagine a mission where you have large rebel ships chasing after you for those documents.
Another thing.... I know that we as players hit astreroids and dont get damaged but what about NPCs? Let the NPCs get damaged. Asteroids are good tactics when being chased as shown by Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back. Why not implament damage to NPCs? I mean Players are out of the question I know due to lag issues it would cause but not the NPCs and it would throw some awsome Starwarsiness to Galaxies.
What does everyone think?
If you like the idea keep it alive by signing....

Sounds like an awsome idea. This game is seriously lacking alot of starwars type missions like you metioned. The missions they give us are more of a chore than they are fun, considering most of them are bugged at some point. I still am unable to get my Vaskasi(SP?) dude to a bugged mission. How many space missions are there that once you get the reward you say " Wow that was fun, im gonna do it again!!" I have yet to find one.
But anyway, The only thing I would add to your escape mission is having to blast your way through a base or starport trying to make it back to your ship, then once you launch the space persuit begins!

While its a noble idea, it won't work.
The next question that needs to be asked after an idea for a game - how would this be balanced and implemented in terms of gameplay?
The problem with an escape mission is exactly what you pointed out. Everyone has different engines in their ships. It would be impossible for a Dev team to tweak an escape mission for its difficulty level. Weapons are a pretty easy thing to judge, as most weapons correspond to their lvl. Engines don't. I've seen some pretty durn good lvl 5 engines for instance that compare to higher lvl engines.
Basically what I'm saying is that currently, the engine speeds of a given tier of pilot varies too widely to balance this.
Also....excitement. If I know my opponent goes at 900 speed and I can go at 920 (easy to tell by the distance indicator too), then there isn't much excitement....at least to me....in the chase and escape itself.
The second idea, asteroids, simply isn't fair in terms of game balance.
If you can run NPCs into asteroids, then players must be able to collide/be damaged with asteroids as well. Its basically like saying that you want an NPC to not be able to shoot through walls, but you want to be able to shoot through walls. Or you want to be able to run through a lethal minefield untouched, but you feel that a NPC chasing after you should be damaged/destroyed.
Personally, I like the asteroid idea, but they gotta have players take damage from them too then. Otherwise, its just an exploit against an NPC - you could simply run yourself around the asteroid, hitting it a couple times, and the NPC flies into it too. Nothing challenging about that at all if you can't take any damage too.

very cool
and for smugglers whenever that luv patch hits
would be cool if a mission in space has a gunboat of the opposite faction or rival gang jump in and start chasing you

I've seen some pretty durn good lvl 5 engines for instance that compare to higher lvl engines.Heck, I still have a lvl 2 capacitor that is better than anything I've found on the market. So until the balance on ship equipment is fixed this cannot be implemented with any success.

Easily fixed... You should be a MASTER PILOT in order to aquire these type missions. Easily fixed. If your a master pilot and cannot get a fast enough engine then you need to have your license revoked.
We are talking about Content here for After Master because currently there is none!
As for the Asteroid thing... if you know this game and I sure as hell know it well.... You would know that collisions would cause lag if it were Players bumping asteroids from my understanding of why they did not implament it.
Secondly did you even master pilot yet? If not then you know nothing of what im trying to speak of here. Master first then you will see what im talking about..... Go take the missions for the Kashyyyk Station, there is one destroy mission that at the end of the mission spawns a Teir 5 ship with fighters... I was flying from one end of the galaxy to the other with that thing on my tail.
Dont tell me it wont be fun because even though that thing was slow the fighters was on my tail and I would fight the fighters off and try to attack that monster! The freaking thing chased me all the way accross the galaxy even when i hypered to repair.
Dont tell me it cant be done if I was able to escape AS A MASTER PILOT and repair, then the ship reapear on my scopes closing in fast. Setting up the programs and repairing took time and again i was on the run.....
I survived that encounter and pretty much felt, STARWARSY!!!!
So please... if you dont know what im talking about then dont post. If you have played this mission before and have checked it out for yourself then post the negatives...
If you feel its a great addition continue to sign.

Actually I do know what you are talking about. There was nothing complicated about it.
However, I don't think you understood anything I was talking about.
I was talking about game mechanics. You were talking about ideas.
I pointed out that even though I like your ideas, the game mechanics/balance wouldn't allow for them.
You responded with insults, but didn't even touch on the problems I pointed out.
Once again:
Being a Master Pilot and having lvl 9 or 10 engines would make no difference in what I pointed out. You could still have a very wide variance in speeds. Not to mention, once again, that if I go at 920, and my opponent goes at 900, then the chase isn't very exciting at all.
Yes, yes, yes, I've done all the Kashyyyk station quests. Did all the Imperial Station ones too. I found the corellian corvette relatively easy and solo'd that one, but had trouble solo'ing the lvl 5 gunship and escorts - strange that it is tougher than the corvette. Yes, the gunship chased me - but that's easily beatable. I simply killed all his escorts, hit him a bit and got beat up, set up an in-system hyperspace jump, jumped away, healed up my shields, came back, and blew it to smithereens.
The in-system hyperjump could be used in the escape missions as well.
As far as the asteroids go, what you point out about lag (I saw that in your first post, btw) doesn't change anything and is totally unrelated to game balance. If you expect NPCs to take damage from asteroids, then because of game balance, you HAVE to have players take damage from them too. Otherwise all you are proposing is implementing an exploit into the game.
Like I said, a noble idea, but it simply cannot be implemented into the game. Instead of responding with insults, why don't you respond by telling me, and all of us, how it COULD be implemented into the game with game balance and game mechanics in mind.

I had encountered a chase already in the game and said I survived it... How much more explaination do you need?
