Hi folks,
Just want to say I start flying without armor to put beter equipment. Anyway armor does not hold too many shots and I'm trying to compensate it with beter guns and (huh) skills.
Anyone else doing anything like this?

What Tier are you in? Once you get up into Tier IV your armour will be your saving grace. Without it look to have your weapons, engines and reactors go dead very quickly.

I am Tier 2 (1211), so far I manage to fight against tier 2 NPCs in duty missions + spawns of tier 3... can live very long and leveled 80% of a skill box in 1 go...
And I know what tier 4 is (was 4433 in beta), since npc missiles are nerfed (those were the biggest problem) it should be a little easier...

This depends on your play style. I will happily swap my front armor for better back armor. That's my plan for 1211. I should get that tonight. As it stands, I rarely loose my back shields these days.

I flyed for a while in my A-wing with no armor.. Thing i found when my shields were gone and i try the emergency shields I didnt have time to do it.. The armor will give you just enough time to emergency when you need.

tier 4 black epsilon here (imp), I'm considering about dropping my armor in my TIE Advanced (I already have a level 1 or 2 armor in it, with 1.5k mass and maybe 300 armor points LOL) in order to... well, try to add something.

I dropped some armor for better shields with higher resist and better regen. Hardly anything gets through the shields now. I'm 4433 neutral pilot.

I did the same thing Yamada man did in my Xwing. I dropped my armor down to very simple 1600 mass stuff to make room for my 2 level 7 blasters and 1 level 7 ion cannon. It doesn't do much but if I get the the point where my shields are gonethat minimal armor plating gives me just enough time to hyper out and save my butt before they knock out my reactor. Only had to do that once though, got jumped by 5 tier 4's and took 2 missile hits in the first 10 seconds that killed my rear shields.
