Ok, here is another reason for a pop up asking for permission for group members who will be passengers on a multi-person craft.
I thought kidnapping would be enough for SOE to rethink this but apparently they don't consider this griefing, or they condone it.
We had a large group of people going up to fight in space. We all started launching. One of the members launched their multiperson ship and it grabbed someone that was going to go up in her own ship and made her a tailgunner. We were delayed as she had to bail out and get her own ship back in space. So, when a multiperson ship launches, what criteria does it use to pick a gunner or passenger? It is random? lol tell me it isn't true. the passengers should get a prompt, period. A yes or no prompt. That would fix both of these problems.

True that is a valid workaround, but not a fix. Besides, the grouping distance limitation is space is pretty small. Finding your group members to group with takes a while also. Grouping on the ground is much more convenient, then after everyone launches, finding your group is much simpler.
