I hope I haven't missed someones post on this question. If so I do apologise, but on the preorder page for MX2 there is a warning that you have to use a different copy of JtL (differently priced of course) depending on whether you are using an american version or the uk version. As I ordered the special edition of the game from america, do I have to buy the US version of JtL, or is this just an attempt to get more money from customers.
If somebody can answer me, preferably one of the devs, it would be much appreciated.

there is NO difference between the UK and USA version, i imported the USA collectors edition way back in 2003 and only recently had to rebuy the UK version due to coming back into the game
I have had NO problems whatsoever using imported version of JTL

Not true, any copy will work (In fact, you won't even need a copy, just a valid JTL key and a good connection to the internet solaunchpad can download the game). The software is the same, only the packaging and manual is different.

Not to doubt you, but according to the MX2 people, they have been informed that JtL is regionalised so keys for the UK can only be used with UK SWG copies and US Jtl keys only with the US SWG. If that's the case, somebody told them this. I would just like to be sure about it before I buy the game.

no difference.
even when there would be a difference - just install the key and let the launchpad download JTL.

I use 3 imported US JTL keys in germany.
Is that proof enough for you?
This is actually only a try to make you buy the more expensive one.
Somewhere buried in the forum isan info from Tiggs that all JTL is the same around the world (except the who knows when showing up Japanese localized version)

It is, I guess, feasible that a key generated for a US copy would not work on an install from a UK CD (although I haven't seen anything that makes me think that, and I can't see any reason for that) ... but a more important question here would be "why would you want to do that anyway??". I can say however that there are no issues on installing a US copy of JTL with a UK copy of SWG:AED ... because thats what I have done.
Everyone in the UK should, (if they are able to) order from the US. Stop Activision getting any money.

I second that, since I my special edition from MX2 last July, as well. After checking the site, and several others, I'm finally ordering from http://www.sps-systems.co.uk/trolleyed/134/index.htm who are 'mailing me the key tomorrow. £5 dearer than the UK ed. price.
Got caught out a few years ago with Balder's Gate (UK ed.) and a copy of the expansion (US ed.) that I bourght on holiday. Finding that they were incompatible once I tried to install. Once bitten...
Not impressed with the way the UK launch has been handled...

Then READ MY POST !
I did not ask about installing a US copy of the game, I asked about using a US JTL cd key with a UK JTL CD.
I have installed a US JTL CD with a UK JTL CD KEY on my UK install of AED.
[EDIT]
Okay, maybe I could have articulated that better, sorry.

To clarify ...
You can install a US copy of Jump to Lightspeed with a UK copy of An Empire Divided - I have
I do not know if the reverse is true, but I don't see why it shouldn't be
You can purchase a CD key from the states and the launchpad will just download and install JTL for you
Dev's have stated that there is no difference between the versions
It's an MMORPG ... everyone connects to the same servers using the same code, it has to be the same
oh ... and the most important one
Do not buy a UK copy, boycott Activision and hit them where it hurts
oh ... and the most important one
