Many higher level missions are too ####ed long. I finished one in a group that took us over an hour.
Combine that with the fact that grouping is required in the first place, really gets my goat. Missions should not require grouping. I spent a whole day over the weekend trying to scrounge up help for a mission. What a colossal infuriating waste of my valuable time. It's insulting to me personally that the devs do not place value on our lives and game time. As much as I like rich aspects of the game, I despise whoever is behind these game-time sucking design strategies.
I spent many hours helping others complete their missions, but somehow when it comes time to do my missions, hours have passed, peeps have to go, and they're burnt out from the prior missions. How do I tell my wife that dinner and my daughter's homework, and helping with groceries has to wait, cause I'm 30 minutes into a mission, and its hell to repeat it. Missions should never take more than 20 minutes to complete. Never.
The devs talked about removing recursive macros for entertainer zealots, but recognized that during non-peak times there needs to be an alternative. In another about-face, they give us missions that require grouping, and no way around it, even when there's freaking nobody on Yavin all day long, and the stragglers are not interested or able to help, and guild members are not JTL or far enough along, or not online that day.
Insane how much I despise the design elements sometimes and the people responsible for them. You insult me with your disregard for my valuable time, for something I pay for too.
Standards around missions need apply: Time length, grouping requirements. Cap 'em, and remove 'em. Enough said.

What missions are you referring? Maybe your further along than me, but I haven't seen any that take that long yet. Except for duty missions which you really don't have to complete. I'm also solo'ing everything so far. But, again I have not progressed beyond the 3rd tier yet.

Ah from mywhat i heared and sawits not just you who is upset.. there are alot of ppls that think the missions are too difficult and also take too much time. What i dislike most is that my skills are bound to these missions to advance.I mean i have over 400k xp meanwhile from just repeating the missions and i cant get the damnlast tier 3 skill cause my mission wp is guarded heavily by 2 x Tier 4 Spawns with Agressors and everything. Looks like some missions havent been reviewed really well... hope we get some patches the days to fix some of the mission problems..

Amen, we keep grouping up, and one of us gets their mission done, and then nobody else does cause we're all ####ed out tired and the night is past. This is buggering maddening.

There aren't any missions that "require" grouping. I'm 4433 pilot so far, no grouping needed. A few of my guildmates are masters, no grouping needed.
The only reason I see a need for grouping is if you insist on having a "gotta have it all NOW!!"attitude.

The 2nd mission for the Talus-based Imperial squadron (Black Obsidian or some such, can't remember at the moment) on tier 3 took myself and 3 others in group almost 90 minutes to complete. Here it is:
Travel to waypoint 12km away.
Fight 4 light fighters, capture medium fighter.
Escort the fighter as it goes 0.000003 feet per second and fight off no less than 9 waves of fighters of an average of 6 fighters (These are all varying levels of tier 3 hutt ships) per wave.
Get to it's capture point, then "transmit the somethingorother" and fight another 6 waves of fighters (tier 3 x-wings (nym's), a-wings and y-wings), again with 6-8 ships per wave, while staying within 1km of the waypoint.
Travel to another waypoint 8km away.
Pickup another ship and escort to another spot (not indicated, you never know how far you're going, but it's going to take for-freaking-ever because they go so damn slow), again fighting off this time 9 waves of ships, 6-9 each, again tier 3 x-wings, a-wings, b-wings and y-wings.
Now, I don't think I'd have a problem with this so much if not for the following facts:
1) The waves of ships are placed too close together. One wave isn't even dead yet when the next spawns in, and the target seems to be the escorted ship, not me as the mission holder.
2) There would be absolutely no way to pass this mission solo, as far as I can see. With that many ships of that level, I don't really see it as being possible. All the juking and dodging in the world doesn't help when it's 6- or 8-on-1.
3) Let me reiterate: The escorted ship is TOO BLOODY SLOW. I realize that it needs to work to the lowest possible ship speed, but even my TIE (Light Duty) had a max speed of triple what this thing is doing.
4) Is it really necessary to do 4-5 phases of the mission without a save or break? This was my third attempt, and it took 4 people to make it really doable and able to protect the escortee and myself, since the NPC ships will target either me or it, depending on what's closer. Each of us were in either TIE/In or TIE Interceptors (so at least past tier 2).
I enjoy the group mechanics thoroughly, but I do agree that the difficulty should be scaled so that these missions CAN be done solo if you want. I'm primarily a solo-type guy, and while I enjoy the grouping, I get a better sense of accomplishment from being able to hone my skills to do it myself. I just don't see it as possible with some of these missions.
That's my $0.02.
