Hi All

As a long time pilot I'm feeling a little neglected at the moment, as I'm sure many of you are. Especially with the prospect of absolutely nothing for us with the new expansion and the even scarier prospect of lag spaceonce player capital ships are available (sorry to say, I know many are looking forward to this). Things aren't looking to bright for the average dog fighting pilot.

Now the devs could just give usmore of the same waves of tier 5 ships to tackle but to put it simple we can all kill waves and waves till the cows come home and this wouldn't be any different from the previous missions we've had only with more waves and tougher kills. What I would like to see is some strategy, I would like to think and fight!!

What I would like to suggest is a pilot story driven quest system that is the same as X-wing series titles. Whereyou would enter an instant mission away from the normal space sectors. You can either go alone or bring a team, each of these missions would havemultiplegoals to meet sum that would certainly be impossible to meet on your own. It would also include you being able to give orders to other friendly craft eg to protect or destroy target craft. AI ships won't just attack you they will have the own pre-programmed goals to achieve. The advantages of using instances is that the missions can include the exact content needed for each mission without the additional lag of randomly spawned crafted, leaving the devs free to add such ships and SD's or mon cals. This gives the leader of the groups more of a role because he has to pick exact targets and not just destroying what's closest to him.

Other missions could include instances in space that then proceed to instances on the ground. eg you've shot down a ship and it crash lands on a planet, your team needs to get down to the planet and find the pilot.

The tour of duty system would be something you can only can as a master spending a lot of the presently useless prestige, eg you'd be required to ammount 10 mil of prestige to gain notice by high command and be considered for this tour.

This tour of duty quest system would really bring new depth to space. Hope you guys feel the same. Frankly I'm just blowing off creative steam in the hopes that a dev might actually notice a creative idea. (although yes I can hardly call myself creative I'm just ripping off game ethics from the Xwing series but you know what I mean)

Just a thought on other mission types. Capturing a vette.

Your team would need to include some dog fighters a MPC type.. (nova, dec, yt) The object of the mission is to identify a certain vette and disable it. The the MPC ship would have to dock and the player team on board would have to capture the ship. Meanwhile the dogfighters would have to deal with a couple of waves of reinforcements and destroy the other vettes that are now blocking the escape vector, then once the vette is captured escort the vette out of the area.

goals would include to keep you MPC ship from being destroyed, Scanning all the vettes, capturing the target vette, destroying the remaining vettes and escorting the target vette to safety.

anyone else got and idea for a good mission please post

I've been a master pilot since November 2004 and I'm hoping they add a few more ships with this next expansion such as the YT-2400 (and make it more of a fighter like the m22 kryat, the yt-1300 is disappointing with no forward firing turrets). But they already said there will not be an additional space sector.

PvP in space is seriously messed up. 1-3 shots and you are dead? Come on. We need a few more epic battles to participate in with our friends.

Those capitol ships are something to look forward to as well, but they are being really quiet about it. I'd like to hear more. *wink wink at tiggs*
